Can we all agree that college football coaching salaries (and player salaries) are completely out of control and bad for the game?

A&M has replaced UT as the most under achieving program in Texas. I just turned 68 and I've been hearing the Aggie "wait till next year" now for at least 50 years.

I'm glad we went 3-1 versus the Ags during my time in Waco. 2-2 versus Texas. Therefore I don't have to take or listen to any braying from those 2 programs.

Those projected coach buyouts are obscene and another part of the NIL/Transfer Portal killers of college football.

They could not win the e Big 12, so they moved to the SEC. Who expected them to win there? They are top five in recruiting every year and still cannot win. Texas was in the same boat until they finally got a coach who was not a joke.

How can you have one of the largest NIL budgets in college football and be that mediocre to bad.

NIL shows the problem of paying unproven entering freshmen a ton of money is a huge gamble. They don't always work out or stay. Even taking the "star" from a G5 team or other p4 school doesn't work out. They might have been the star because of the conference they played in.

Someone needs to do a deep dive into NIL and transfers and show how for every Chambliss (ol miss QB) that goes up and succeeds there are numerous ones who bounce around and never do well. Like OUs QB, novosad, etc.

This is one of the reasons things like NIL caps and defined controls desperately need to be put in place to keep this currently unsustainable "Wild West" situation from ultimately destroying college football (which of course anymore is just another brand of pro football).

Just a guess on my part. Marketing. Light weight, sweat wicking hoodies started dominating in sport fishing. Anglers wear long sleeve, hooded t-shirts to block the sun. Can only assume with coaches being in the heat companies passed shirts on to them. They're pretty good.

It is called changing fashion.

I am sure when you were a teen the old guys were complaining that you didn't wear hats with suits anymore. Or that you wore t-shirts. Or whatever was the fashion when you were in school that they thought was hideous.

Those shirts are great. Lightweight, moisture wicking and breathable. You can wear that instead of slapping on a bunch of sunscreen that needs to reapplied every so often or risking skin cancer.

Go ask them. Be sure to ask exactly as you worded it here.

Again, fashions change. You may not like it but I am sure there were lots of old dudes sitting around complaining about the fashion you guys wore. OR the fact that you wore leather helmets when real men didn't wear helmets to play football. Or do the crazy forward pass thing. (yes I know you are not that old to be in that last category but it is to make a point). The old generation always thinks the new way of doing things, playing football, clothes, shoes, music, etc. is weird looking, stupid, etc.

Get over it.

I never bought into it so there is nothing for me to get over. I don't need to ask them. Fashion victims. All of them. Most likely a number of you.

Coaches have always been known to be fashion victims. They have no dress sense. It is yet another feeble attempt to "connect" with the young players and in so trying they become a pitiful example of trying too hard. Particularly with that one specific group that started the trend.

Style does go out. That is why fashion has changed for hundreds of years and you do not see people still dressing like they did 100 years ago. Or further back.

No one wears a hat with a suit.

Suits that are worn are a different style and have changed over the years. As much as you hate it style does change. NO matter how much you want to "claim" you are right society proves you wrong.
