People are riding the high from Saturday. It was a good win against what looks like a bad team. Aranda is on track for keeping his job…..for now. But it's a long season. If we finish 93, I'll join these people in popping bottles

I like the team, especially in what is proving to be a relatively weak conference. They will be favored in their next four games, and it wouldn't be outlandish to predict they could upset at least one of the final three stronger opponents (BYU, tech, and Houston).

So 9 wins is doable, but I think 7 or 8 wins is more likely. If they could get past perennially pesky TCU, I think they springboard to a very good season.

I'm not entirely sold on DJ, and the kicking game could cost them a game, but the team doesn't appear to have any glaring weaknesses which is nice.

For me, cautiously optimistic. It's very difficult to tell based on who we've played. The Auburn game gives me a glimmer of hope. We might not know until the BYU game.
TCU could certainly get things leaning well. I just can't get confident about the toads, they just seem to always have our number regardless. Even with the schedule between toads and BYU, if we crater with the toads things could go south. Beat the toads and I think their confidence would see them through until BYU. That will be when teeth are gnashing.

Let's not get carried away. PV, La Tech and ASU are not enough to get excited. I saw so many positives in the ASU win that were not in previous three games. A better measure will be how we play against our final three games.

Obviously that Sugar Bowl team was RHULE's recruits. Since that season it is all on Aranda and his miserable selection of defensive coaches until this season.

Doesn't mean much anyway, and certainly won't be understood by the OP but I believed in this team in '25. And, a lot of years prior to that one. Finally had to relocate into "Missouri" in my mind and expectations, much less 'Belief". The track record of Aranda as HC speaks for itself, even if there are exceptions like the last half of '24. If '24 was legit, why happened in '25? '21 doesn't dismiss the subsequent years of ineptitude. Thus we have an exodus of sorts, certainly one of blind following.

One thing Spav has been doing as OC that is exceptional.
He is moving Gavin around in different O Formations to run routes that get him open, that maintains his ability to dominate games, even though opposing D's are probably doing everything they can to stop him.

I'm optimistic about this team too. But we have to beat TCU. While I'd like it to be by 10 or more points, the TCU game always seems to be a close game, no matter who our head coach is.

I think we're going to beat TCU handily. Even though we have been inconsistent early before finally putting a full game together last week, they have not looked good at all.

Nah, I'll hold out for the BYU game. Only then will we know what kind of team Baylor really is.

Agree. TCU wins were over Nobody, the same for KS, ditto for UCF and pretty much the same for IW St with possibly exception of close game with W VA. If BU can't handle these teams convincingly the BYU game will tell the truth.

I already have a pretty good idea. This team has a serious D and some dudes on offense that have something to prove. Freeman has played himself into a day 1 draft pick so far. I like that we are getting over looked dudes who have something to prove. II also like that Dave has dropped the we want nice guys bit and embraced the they dont think we're any good so lets go kick ass bit.

You keep living on that Sugar Bowl game, if that makes you feel better. I won't take that wubby away from you. But - the reality is that Dave Aranda's teams have declined EVERY season since with a Coordinator revolving door to cover up what the real weakness is: DAVE ARANDA IS NOT A P4 HEAD COACH !

But, you do You and keep hanging on to that slimmer of Hope.....and mediocre Baylor Football results while it lasts.

Expectations for a $4M/year head coach of any sport at a school like Baylor U should be MUCH higher than they are today.

We haven't had enough wins in the last few years, so of course I'm enjoying the wins 100%. I read the question as do I believe this team will win and contend over the course of the season. I won't have full buy in until I see the next 4 games against the rest of the mid level Big 12 teams. Doesn't mean I won't enjoy the football season along the way.
