Because they bought out the site most of us were on. Many of us have posted since before that site started. Many others started there.

These sites are hard to run. I remember when on Baylorfans a group got upset at that site and tried their own (green gold report) and a bunch went there but it lasted like a year and many went back. Many just left.

So there isn't anywhere else to go.

It is possible it came from a higher source and they were not at liberty to disclose, at least without consequences.

True story, a couple friends bought premium accounts after I told them about the site shortly after it started up. Both dropped their membership within a month. I don't claim to know how to operate or own a message board, but they've let a handful of posters run off a lot of potential paying customers

Probably 4-5 pages deep, 2 Pollyannas created threads about me demanding I get banned. I found it hilarious about how rent-free I lived in their heads. They're both in my echo chamber because they're not worthy of further responses.

Yup, I had a "petition" to get me banned at one point as well. Certain people are used to getting their way at their HOA meetings or have underlings at their jobs applaud as they walk into the room and tell them how amazing they are, and they expect that to carry over to their message board experience.

I doubt Jason wants to do it any more. I don't know him, just a gut feeling.

The staff here are legit good people. Baylorfans would still be around if Jason wanted it that way. He has the right to keep the name and start it back up today if he wanted to, lawsuit or not, from what I have heard and read. I have no idea how that is going or went, or just went away. I hope it was amicable in the end, if it did end. I miss the old site in a lot of ways, but this without question the best alternative we can possibly have.

It's not all fun and games running a huge message board. It can be a major pain. They have to deal with crap, too. They have to be nice to Baylor to some degree, to have the access they enjoy. And doing the kinds of things they do here that make it worthwhile costs a good chunk of money. I doubt any of them are going to retire on the sweet income they get here.

I have run a couple of free boards with a two or thee hundred subscribers, not sports stuff but primarily music fan based. Politics always shows up and makes things complicated between rival factions. I ran my board to keep those things in places where people could do that away from the main topics of the board. There were always pissing matches that developed between people for stupid reasons, and it got really tiresome and disruptive. There were always a few small-minded trolls whose entire purpose being there was just to ruin everyone else's enjoyment of the board. They use the anonymity as a playground to release the ******* inside them that they may keep hidden in public life. Or they're just always *******s. You never know.

Now expand small base of a couple hundred to thousands of users. It takes work that you really didn't want to have to do.

When you look at other sports boards, paid or free, this one is a freakin' bargain. They are mostly unreadable. I have resigned to stay away from most of them as time has gone by, because you really get nothing out of it. There's enough decorum here to actually eek out a halfway decent conversation about sports stuff once in a while, which is nice.

Sports fans like us are ******s anyway. You want to see the dumbest brought out in normally smart people? Get them on a sports fan board.

But we're here. What else are we going to go? Somewhere in real life? HA!

According to Google the suit is still active but awaiting trial or settlement.

From what I remember, according to Ashley's response when they got hit with the lawsuit, Jason has the rights to the domain name and the right to put Baylorfans back up. I can't say that's 100 percent accurate.

Maybe Jason can chime in.

They couldn't handle the truth

I left the premium site due to the way a handful of posters "treated" others on the site, without any repercussions. Bfans at the end took on that environment to a degree also. I never had much issue with the "staff" as I was aware of the tenuous connections they had BU which colored a lot of comments/articles they produced. Still was a source of good info, even if they had to hedge their comments. I hope this part of SicEm doesn't degenerate like the paid site…the premium site went south IMO when some notable posters moved over from other sites to SicEm.
