Why don't we offer this kid a chance to play QB at Baylor? Yes he is undersized at 5'10" but he is a gamer and we need QB's. If you think we can make it through a season with 2 QBs you are not paying attention to Baylor football for the past 5 years. Besides what could hurt having Jerry Jones family supporting Baylor for the next 5 years? What I saw in the last two years of his HS play this kid is smart and a winner.

I'd like to avoid a situation where Jerry and pops believe Johnny should be getting more playing time.

Kid has escapability like Baker Mayfield from OU. Any one who follows football know Jones was recruited by TTech and Arkansas and committed to Arkansas taking all of his grandfathers stash with him because his grandfather is an Arkansas football Letterman.

I guess the OP doesn't follow collegiate football much.

He doesn't look 5-10. Probably closer to 5-8. I doubt he plays QB at the D1 level.

Not unlike a kid from Westlake that played at Purdue. Seems like Drew's career has been a Brees.

We could have had that kid if we had simply offered.

Kinda reminds me of the short guy down at the basketball courts who can kick anybody's ass in basketball even guys who played in well in college, even though he didn't get that shot.

Good thing he is at HP and is Jones grandson. That will give him a chance, and I think he has a chance, doesn't meet any measurables, but the boy can play.

I've watch him play quite a few times. His arm strength is quite a bit below what you want at the P5 level, and his size is a huge limitation. He could have a good career at a FCS or small FBS program, he is pretty accurate and has a knack for making things happen, though he isn't athletic enough to keep that up against most P5 defenses. The fact that Chad Morris has a son on the team, saw tons of Jones, and didn't think he was worth an SMU offer speaks quite a bit about how he projects to the FBS level, though he's stepped up his game enough recently to merit G5 offers

I remember that first Texas then A&M and then Baylor passed on a great HS QB prospect from the Austin area because he didn't have NFL measurables. I wonder what ever happened to that Drew Brees kid???

Well, John Stephen Jones was certainly no Drew Brees!
