So if we conclude that portraying a fierce bear head is difficult, why don't we attempt the side profile of an entire bear - like the Dapper Bear logo has done so successfully? Wouldn't that look much better than a green cartoon bear face on the neck of the jerseys?

Yknow comparing all of them, I think I like the newest one best. Sailor bear is a close second but I always thought it looked too similar to too many other sailor cap'd logos.

That's because the artist that did Sailor Bear did them for schools all over the SW and SE....Auburn, LSU, and more game them. Former Disney artist.

I agree about the profile of a bear would be great. But let me show you a little trick if we tweak that current logo by covering the lower jaw with green or yellowgo ahead and cover it with your finger, we have a pretty good logo of a frowning closed mouth bear. It needs to be tweaked a little.

Btw Cal and UCLA have the same Sailor Bear. I'm not sure he still makes rare appearances there like he does here but they had him as well when he was current here.

The new Bear is probably the best we have had in almost 30 years.

Sailor bear in the 1950s-1960s was good.

Growling bear from the 1970s- early 1990s was awesome. (Some call this the Coach Grant Teaff Bear)

Toxic Bear from the mid 1990s-2003 was terrible....like horrible....like worst all time.

Doberman dog bear from 2004-2018 was mediocre/bad.

New 4 teeth/open jaw bear is decent.

Wasn't around Baylor in it's earliest years, so I'd rate them this way:
1. Doberman dog bear. We did some cool things with this logo.
2. New hippie green bear. It's not great, but its better than the others.
3. Sailor Bear. I really like it, but not as a main logo. Still good for a secondary logo.
4. Growling 70s/80s bear. Waaay too busy.
5. Radioactive toxic bear. What. were. they. thinking????

Agree totally. This is the best part of the uniform redo.

Agree

You can have legit arguments on Salior bear, Growling bear, or Doberman bear........all had their good sides and all had their flaws. Which one you like probably comes down to personal preference.

Radioactive toxic bear was a crime against art and a crime against our college.

We should have lined up the Regents against a wall and had them face a firing squad for that one.

Doberman replaced green bear around 03 not 08. It was done about the same time Sloan added yellow to the website as an alt "gold" to Vegas gold. This was the period we had two official "golds" one gold and the other yellow before Lilley removed gold from the website page about 07/08 as he was attempting a push to do what we did this past weekend. Green bear btw was already no where to be seen anymore a couple of years before he was officially replaced incidentally.

Our leaders have been wanting to get rid of Gold in favor of yellow for a long time.

I don't really understand why.

Probably because they know they can't get away with pink.
