If the kid were a UT student that would be hilarious.
But the kid looks to be about 12. Ridiculing a little kid is a bit much for me.
I
never wailed like that at that age when the beloved Hogs of my youth were getting wafflestomped by Texas most years. My papa wouldn't have it. My mama wouldn't have it. In fact, I'd wager that almost
none of us did around that age when our beloved teams of youth cracked open a king-sized can o' disappoint ...
Last time I cried at a sporting event was 8 years old. My papa pulled me aside and quietly -- but firmly -- explained this was unacceptable and viewed by others as "being a pansy." It didn't happen again. Not in public anyway.
I remember a couple of years later watching an NFL game during the holidays and watching my Colts get stuffed in the playoffs by the Steelers and wanting to run off and do something else when the score hit 28-10. Papa said "nope, stay here and watch the rest of it. If you're gonna call yourself a fan of a team, you gotta stick with them through thick and then." Little did I know at the time it was breaking training for a time in history many years down the road known as The Stolen Years ...
Is ridiculing a kid like that a bit much. Yah, probably.
But blame perhaps ought to go more toward parents who promote/allow that kind of behavior in public.
