Well, not the greatest matchups in the world, but I'll take it after 7 months of nothing.

The 3 P5 teams in action today all had losing records last year.

I could see four of those games being good, but I could see at least three of those being blow outs also. I figure UTEP and New Mexico State will most likely be a close game and there should be no way Southern Utah hangs with San Jose State. Fresno State is a huge favorite, but I could see Connecticut hanging around first game of the season.

Quick question. UTEP and NM State are on FLOF. What channel is that?

Huskers have been 12-20 under 3 season with Scott Frost. Wonder how warm his seat is getting. Being an alum prolly gives him a little bit of extra leash.

Just saw the graphic. I cannot believe this is his fourth season at Nebraska.

Offense looks very typical for him. Best play so far is that punt.

I was just thinking that too. It feels like he was just hired there.

What a way to start the season, don't think I've seen a score like this before.

How can people keep claiming Nebraska as a "blueblood" when they haven't been meaningful in 25 years and they continue to put crap on the field year after year. This is a game between 2 really awful teams playing awful football. Unwatchable.

I don't consider them a blue blood. The blue blood pool to me is about 9 programs with several just a run below. Nebraska is in that category to me.

I'm not sure in a hypothetical top level league of 16 programs meeting those descriptions, they would be one of the 16 included.
Aliceinbubbleland

I think they have blue blood history. Bama had many down years too once upon. Time. Nebraska has rich history. They've just had a hard time adapting to players who can read and write.

Minnesota won national championships in football in one poll or another in 1904, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941, and 1960. They aren't a blueblood. Blueblood status ends at some point. That point has passed for Nebraska. 90s football isn't even considered modern day football any longer and that was the last time they were relevant.

Ugly ugly ugly

Some of these schools like Illinois, Rutgers, Wake, etc just lucked their way into surviving the conference realignment musical chairs.

Frost had a deadly offense when he was at UCF. I guess they just can't get the athletes to come out to Lawrence.

Huskers by 2 TDs to an Illinois team that went 2-6 last year. Plus, Illinois lost their starting QB in the first quarter.

OU is going to lay them flat.

They are probably the same people who think USC, Texas, & ND are blue bloods. At least Texas has a natty 16 years ago & ND was in the playoffs recently. It just illustrates the fact that a "blue blood" is a program with history & tradition. It also clearly demonstrates that this label means nothing unless the program has recent accomplishments like Bama, Clemson, OSU, & LSU. There aren't many of them. Michigan? Nope. Texas? Don't make me laugh. Georgia & OU? Arguably. At least they have been in the playoffs. Is that enough? Good question. Maybe it depends on how many times or if they made it past the semis (sorry Sooners).
