Briles did use them on occasion, just not as much as now. I don't think Rhule used tight ends the way Aranda/Grimes is. Wonderful!!

It just seems like tight ends are always open whenever their number is called.

It's such a hard position to cover especially if you have a great OL

Been screaming "Throw it to the tight end coach! He's wide open!!" since the 70's

Yeah, I remember some good red zone TD's to Najvar back in the 2011 season. I think he scored a TD against TCU and OU on the same play action pass play.

I was explaining to my wife the 'value' in incorporating the tight end and this is exactly what I said. Are they fast and elusive...rarely but they always seem to be open and a part of successful plays

When you get a 6'6"-6'9" guy that can run and has soft hands, there's not many 5'10"-6'2" DBs that can cover them no matter how fast they are. I still don't understand why thick power forwards with hands aren't recruited heavily to be TEs, but I'm guess they can't catch on to the pads and route running.

Rhule had terrible offenses. He didn't use any position.

With Joe Tessatore (sp?) calling both games & using almost the exact same words to describe the play.
