I hope the drought is long gone. We've had over 17 inches of rain in less than 30 days in Belton. We were 3-4 weeks delayed in getting our pastures cut and baled which has delayed any application of herbicide, pesticide and fertilizer. Should be an interesting hay season!RealEstateBear said:

My wife's grandparents and uncle farmed. The only thing I know about it is what I heard them discuss.
I think I know enough about it to feel horrible for the folks that planted wheat and feel pretty good for the ones that planted corn. I know nothing about cotton and hay.

Talked to my cousin yesterday. They live on the Cowhouse Creek in Coryell County. Two weeks ago so much rain that the creek overflowed the bridge for the first time in about 30 years. The bridge is about 15 feet above the creek. Washed out part of the road. A couple of vehicles washed off the road requiring high water rescue by law enforcement.
Took out a long length of fence. They lost several cows and calves. Had to move the rest to higher ground. Then on Wednesday this week they had 2.5 inches and another 2.5 inches yesterday. The creek was back out of bank both days. They won't soon forget the rain of this year.

Yeah. Wednesday evening we got nearly 3.5 inches of rain in 40 minutes and then another 1.5 inches yesterday in about the same amount of time. Lots of water. I hadn't seen it rain as hard as Wednesday since we took boats to Houston during Harvey. Just insane. Couldn't even see my neighbor's house across the streetHunterBear said:

Agree..Lake is still almost 14 ft above "normal"..Even after rainy period ends and water recedes, there's the issue of brush/debris removal and road conditions...For the roads that have been underwater, they need to dry to stabilize their base...If they let traffic on them before thorough examination, there is a real risk of ruining the roads..That's why I think the "any time soon" verbage is pretty accurate.4th and Inches said:got 3-4 more inches of rain in the next 7 days on the forecastSoonerFrogs said:

Former Lake Waco boater here, the Corps will tell you the lake has three functions. Flood control, water supply, and recreation. In that order, heavily weighted to the first two.

Rain totals are almost always underreported at the airport (there's some local chatter/legend that proximity to Lake Waco diminishes storms coming across it). In the middle of town we had 2.5" yesterday afternoon and another 4.5" overnight, and one weekend early in the month we had 7.75" in 3 days. And that doesn't count the other hard rains during the month. I'd figure it was closer to 18-20".SteamedHams said:

Just dumped 5" from rain gauge from yesterday, last night. Ritchie Rd, across from Park Meadows. I didn't keep a running total, but that's got to be closer to 18-20 inches for the month. Had two big hackberries fall across my drive this week, first tree service I called can't get here to give an estimate for three weeks. Haven't tried any others, suspect it's the same.
Thornton Tree Service did ours from the tornado last week in Temple. They did a great job and are easy to work with. They are out of Abilene, but have crews down here all the time in the Central Texas area. I called Friday, and they did the work Sunday.Liteitup said:

Four trees on roofs and four on cars just in the block over from mine in Woodway after last night. Not to mention all the uprooted trees and dozens of downed limbs on yards/road.
In Lake Air/ Bishop area...some tree damage..Power still out in Arroyo Rd area..I imagine crews are stretched thin now....1st Assembly of God Church on Cobbs/Bosque has big roof damage..

Lots of trees/limbs down on Ridgewood and Cottonwood. On 84 between Estates/loop340 there were 3 freeway lights snapped at the base. Lots of power poles and downed trees in other areas that I've seen. Had my golf tourney cancelled this morning and clients I was trying to meet with can't due to downed trees at their houses. Mess. Ground is so saturated that any big wind event we get in the next few days is gonna really do a number on the trees. Bad drought followed up by over saturation is really bad combo when there are wind events.

Whippoorwill in Woodway was hit pretty bad. Tons of trees down. Really strange that it is mainly confined to that one street and it runs mainly north and south. Big healthy trees were snapped
Per the WTH, the previous record rainfall in a month was 15.15" in October 2015, which many may recall as the year where Homecoming was cancelled because of the downpour.
My family has used Chuy's Tree Service several times. They do a great job and have always been done in a single day regardless of the size of the tree(s).

Lot of generators running in Arroyo/Pine area...Still no time given for restoration..Crews are working hard, just many area outages that involve lines down..
I've used A-1 tree service a few times and had good experiences.
