Jesus, 755 people getting the axe in the 254. Hope those getting let go can land on their feet in this economy.

I would assume a great number of these folks end up going to work for the new vendor. Maybe the pay is higher and maybe lower, but hoping those that want to will have work.

Confirming that a large number of these Aramark employees have been hired by the new contractors.

Also a reminder of just how massive Baylor is to the Waco economy.

The number of outside Waco dollars Baylor brings in and spends is pretty staggering for a community our size.

Exactly. They're getting laid off / hired. Concerning this is not more obvious to people with a Baylor education.

Maybe there are those that still have a touch of humanity and dont see workers as poker chips going from employer to employer

Comrade, this sounds very nice but makes no sense to me. What are you proposing Baylor should or shouldn't do?

If Baylor had offers from other providers for comparable (or better) service at lower prices, was the University supposed to stick with the incumbent nonetheless and pass the cost on to students and families in the form of even higher tuition?

Also I have known of at least a few outsourcing transitions where the transferred employees actually improved their lot in the form of immediately higher wage scales and/or better benefits with the new provider. No knowledge of the details on this Baylor deal but just pointing out that it's not beyond the realm of possibility at all. Win-win-wins can and do happen.

We hired one of the salaried Aramark people that was let go. She has been fantastic.
