If I recall this is required as phase one as it addresses flood plain issues by putting in a second culvert from which after they will pay for updates of recent fema revision map without which they can not get federal funding on any of the subsequent development phases.

The city still has to complete Phase 1A first which includes all of the foundational street, water, and sewer work plus La Pila Plaza and creekwalk. It would create a landscaped walkway along the creek flanked by mixed-use buildings. "The creekwalk would resemble a small-scale version of the River Walk in San Antonio, officials have said."

Balk also said the potential stadium builders didn't object when told that they would have to build the surrounding mixed-use developments before the stadium itself.

That mixed-use development could include a smaller venue like Texas Live, in Arlington near the stadiums where the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers play, Balk said. It would also include surrounding buildings, similar to the Domain in Austin.

True. Often overlooked in developments of this sort is an establishment where a gentleman can get his hat blocked.

Actually has a history of baseball Babe Ruth and all the classics used to come to Waco and play. There was a stadium and I forget what it was called, but they would play spring ball and stuff down here.

The old Live Oak field across the street from the silos.

Live Oak moved up to 11-man this season and built a new football stadium adjacent to their baseball field of dreams off Franklin and 26th Street where the park used to be. If you haven't seen that baseball facility, I invite you to venture out there the next time you're in Waco. It is pretty incredible.

Katy Park was on the other side of the Silos from the old Live Oak FB field. Closer to 8th St. than 5th St.

Can confirm that the Live Oak baseball field is one of the absolute best in the state, if not the country, particularly given their size.

Had the opportunity to have my son's travel team practice out there a couple times last spring and I've honestly been in worse minor league ball parks. Top notch does not even cover it. I don't know how much Mike Hillman plopped down for that facility, but it is elite.
