Does anyone know what ever happened with the lawsuits against them? Did they get thrown out, settled or are they still ongoing?

They had two or three I think. One about a fall due to bad steps or flooring and I think one with a former employee claiming sexual harassment. The I think a second former employee added on to that one or opened her own case.

But I never saw anything on any of them being dropped, dismissed, etc and on google all I find is the original news stories.

What has always been interesting to me is that the lady who owns it was the Chair of the McLennan County Democrats for years and years and was big time Dem activist and they have (unless they took it down) a pretty large confederate flag in the bar area.

Pretty decent pizza though.

She taught history for years in Waco ISD and really got into the civil war. Also, her husband is a conservative if I remember correctly? Nice couple but she's definitely politically charged in how she views the world.

those lawsuits were all filed by the same lawyer and all are extremely frivolous. One was settled for less than the cost of a decent tv.

Not that anyone really cares..... nerd talk

But a lot of the Southern upper class were in fact Old Whigs. Robert E. Lee was a long time Whig voter before he stopped voting (considered it improper to be a Officer and involved in politics)

And not a small amount of the Southern ground troops from the Upper South were/had been Southern Unionist. Constitutional Union Party, Sam Houston types

And the Northern Armies we in fact heavily Democratic voters (the Irish especially)....at least at the beginning of the war.

"A large majority of the officers of the army were of Democratic inclination, or, to speak more accurately, were in favor of the Union as it was..."-General Butler

Even U.S. Grant had once been a democrat most of his life.

[-Grant cast his vote for the Democratic candidate, James Buchanan. At the time, Grant feared that electing a Republican president would lead to war....Grant preferred Democrat Stephen A. Douglas over Republican Abraham Lincoln]

Wow. Seems like a waste to settle for that as when I think of cost of decent tv I'm thinking a couple hundred to a little over a thousand.

She was my second grade teacher in Marlin. I guess it would have been '71 or '72. As I recall, I really liked her and she is one of the few I remember.

We'd eat at Poppa Rolla's often when my sisters were at Baylor in the early middish 70's. I remember my mom telling me that Ms Duty owned it. I thought that was pretty cool.

Fast forward to my time at Baylor in the early 80's, my roommate and I would visit Poppa Rolla's probably once every two weeks. The pizza was good and we go thru a pitcher of beer, then a half pitcher. Fun times.
