Headed down to Waco for Utah v Baylor with the fam. Mother has Celiac's Disease, anyone have any good recommendations for restaurants in town that have a decent GF menu/little cross-contamination?

Any help appreciated!

Daughter uses the "Find me gluten free" app. She eats at any restaurant in Waco, just focuses on grilled chicken options and asks questions. The Olive Branch is accommodating and will make items "off menu".Oh My Juice is also accommodating if you want aa bowls.

Depends on how gluten free you have to be. Meaning some people can't have anything prepared using the same cooking utensil that just cooked something with gluten. If that is not the case, my wife does pretty well finding things in the menu that doesn't have gluten. It really easy at say a Tex Mex restaurant for example to just order corn tortillas with your fajitas instead of flour. A lot of things at Tex Mex places are already pretty much gluten free. Enchiladas are almost always made with corn tortillas. But anyway my wife has no problems finding out how to eat gluten free at most places. There are also gluten free options at most places these days that are specifically mentioned as such. Even Poppa Rollos has gluten free crust on the menu.

We ate at Tia Juanita's Fish camp last week, they had many gluten free entrees on their menu.

Some suggestions coming from someone that only eats GF

1. Moroso's- Does a good job with GF. A lot of the entrees are GF, they have a GF Pizza crust (which is good). They do have a GF pasta, but it is cooked in same pasta water as their regular pasta. If you have extreme sensitivities, I would recommend not doing the Pasta. My Daughters roommate at Baylor is also Celiac and has good experiences here

2. Opals- Mainly seafood based and has a a great steak too.

2B. Terry Blacks Barbeque

3. Viteks Barbeque

4. Chuys- Should be able to easily navigate the menu for GF options

5. CAVA - "Greek Chipotle" style fast casual

I would skip Jorge's (George's Tex-Mex) for GF options. Multiple experiences with dishes that we "GF" that I am sure were not.

I second this list. Di Campli's has a pasta section of the menu, but if you go down to the "secondi" part of the menu there are 8 or 10 dishes that should be gluten free. Ask to be sure about cross-contamination. Surprisingly, they have one of the best steaks in town.
