We live about 2.5 miles from Ninfas and go there about every six weeks or so with our boys. I enjoy it, had my first (4) Ninfaritas there (what a night) many years ago.

That said, over the last few years, it is a ghost town there most nights and I can't imagine they are making that much money. Would be a shame if it closed. Curious if others have had similar observations…

That's no small accomplishment. I think at one time they added Everclear to those things to really rock a person's world.

I'm not sure they could get away with that anymore, with Dram shop laws and liability insurance company requirements being what they are.

Yep. My wife and I's first date was at Buzzard's - the menu's on the records. It really pioneered downtown before that complex with Cricket's and Diamondback's opened.

I'll have to try Ninfa's again. The last time we went, the chicken in my chicken fajitas had no seasoning, no marinade, no flavor. I wasn't impressed, but it's possible they had a new cook and the place had a bad day. Don't want to see them out of business.

Ninfa's opened while I was at Baylor, and I spent a ton of time there as a student, so there's some nostalgia for sure. That said, I still enjoy their food and margs and go regularly. I'd say on the weekends when we normally go, if we're there at peak time 7-9pm, it's usually pretty busy but rarely long waits like it used to have. Love their salsas and my go to is beef fajitas with the ala Barry topping. So good!

I this it is fine in Waco based on the location itself. The one in CS was not in a good location at all. Opposite side of Hwy 6 from where you want to be and not close to campus or where anything else is in CS.

Tripping Daisy was bad a$$.

615 on a Friday is pretty empty.

that's a shame. it's one of the only places I like to go out to eat. they always seem to be more busy during lunch than dinner

I noticed it was always less busy years ago. Like before Covid. I stopped going after several times in a row of bad service, incorrect orders, bad food, incorrect pricing (being charged for things we never ordered or double) and it being a hassle to get any of the above corrected. I am not sure if that was becoming typical of the place overall but it sure seemed like it as this happened with different servers each time.

But I think they suffer from the fact they are a long time restaurant and now people have more options so people go to try out all the new places. Which depending on how often you eat out could take a while to try them all out. Also, some spots become local "hot spots" it seems and everyone goes there for a while. Finally, I think with the new options all over town people aren't as likely to drive past restaurants just to get to another one of the same food type. IE driving past multiple Mexican restaurants coming from Hewitt/Woodway just to get to downtown...

The quality of Ninfas has gone down the last few years. I'm not sure what's going with the family or who is running it. It's definitely not what it used to be and people have caught on. Many great times there. Outside of George's it's the place to be for gameday in Waco imo

I had the same thoughts on location in CS. I do commercial RE and I just didn't like that stretch of Hwy 6. However, Bubba's 33 opened last summer ( i think) about 600 yds south in the Cinemark parking lot, and they have been packed practically every time I drive by.
