If you decide to move to the Woodway area, you'll learn nearly everything shuts down early. Ghost town at night. We were shocked when we moved here.

Woodway is retiree central. Not surprised. Hope this business does well though.

Stopped in this afternoon. We had the pimento cheese, wood fired pita and buffalo wings. Wings were a little over cooked but overall everything was tasty. Fantastic TV lay out. Also, 22 oz draft beers for 5 bucks. On a Sunday during football season, sign me up for $5 beers all day long. Hoping the community supports this place.

Looks like a nice alternative to George's, which I enjoy when I can get in the door.

We've been doing George's for dudes birthday parties every January. Looks like we may have to try this place out. I'm sure the wait won't be as long as George's.

I went to Hilltop last night. Got there around 8. Wasn't many there (approx. 16 - 18). I love the building, the atmosphere, and all the TV's. I will be back at least one more time. I like it so well I'm going to give them one more chance to serve me a decent meal. I didn't scan the menu very long. I just said give me the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. I didn't figure anyone could mess up potatoes but geez they looked good but something (?) was added and it sort of tasted like vinegar. Cole slaw had a very odd taste too but it wasn't bad, ate it all. The steak was a disaster. It could not be cut because the batter was almost as hard as concrete. I literally broke it up by stabbing it with my fork. Tough as a dried up crouton. The main problem was it was just way over cooked. Should have been pulled out at least 3 - 4 minutes earlier. I will go back and try one of their sandwiches. Surely they can make a sammich. All I need from a restaurant is one thing that I like and you'll get my business very regularly.. So Hilltop I'm giving you one more chance.

I went there last night too, probably a couple minutes ahead of you. Got the chicken friend steak too. Batter was a little crispy but I didn't think it was too bad. Liked the jalapeno gravy on it. The mashed potatoes were ok but, once again, the jalapeno gravy made it better. Didn't do the slaw. A five dollar 22 oz draft beer was nice. We had intended to go the Baylor basketball game but ended up at another function way longer than expected. Would have thought with 25-30 TVs in a Waco sports bar they would have found a way to get the game on one of them.

Went on Saturday during the soft opening. Queso was off. Too thick, almost cold. Got the tri-tip sandwich. The tri-tip was cut too thin and overcooked. I love tri-tip, so very disappointed. The tallow fries were good.

Good atmosphere. Loved the number of TVs. Service was fine too.

I wish my batter would have been a "little crispy" because I love crispy crunchy stuff. Like KFC's extra crispy chicken, that was the bomb. My batter was closer to a flint rock than a crispy fried chicken batter.

It took them a while to get consistent at Butchers Cellar at well, but that place is pretty much on point food wise every time now.

It was good. Needs more of a "hook". The atmosphere is great. Love that it is local and in Woodway. Small menu. They could use a more signaure item, IMO.

Attached are photos of the Porky Melt, bleu cheese slaw, and honey corn ribs.

I highly recommend the honey corn ribs (shaved corn on the cob dipped in honey and spices). Also, the bleu cheese slaw may be my favorite for the Waco area.

Loved the atmosphere when we went. The space was awesome.

The food did not impress me. I get going to a nice place like Butcher's Cellar and having some uppity ingredients etc, but at a sports bar, I think they have overthought some of this stuff.

Keep it simple. There is a reason George's has done as well as they have over the years...

Also not many options on the menu for actual dinner, more appetizer focused it seems.

Joe Waco will not like this place all that much.

I hope they can adapt as like I said the space is awesome and I would LOVE something that close to where we live to be in the rotation.

I will definitely try them out again, but they are going to need to be able to appeal a bit more to the common man to make it work.

$5 Nitro milk stout.... This is my favorite place in town now that we have moved to the wrong side of town... All the food has been pretty good. The beet deviled eggs were good, but the yolks weren't creamed like in the photos which made it a little disjointed if maybe easier to produce on their end. Harissa honey butter chicken wings were really good, but the pickled veggies served with them were a really pleasant surprise. So far we have tried the Tri-Tip which was a little dry on mine the time I tried it, but my father enjoyed when we took them there, I think because he got a little more horseradish mayo. My wife really liked the blackened chicken caesar wrap. I think the pulled pork sandwich needs pickles, pickled onions, or some kind of other acid added as it is a little just blam with BBQ one note... My wife thinks the shrimp and grits were "fine" which is about as middle of the road as one can get. The sweet potato fries are great, I don't really like the thick tallow fries, but everyone else likes them and the photos show thin ones so I must have been the minority... On a tangent, it is $3 additional charge to substitute a side for the fries, or $4 to just add a side which kind of ticked me off, but the side salad is really dang good... I'm assuming they make their own ranch or get it from somewhere that knows how to make really good ranch. Great fresh spring mix, with diced tomato, shredded cheese, crouton, shredded cucumber I think... My point is, it is a good salad similar to what one would get from Cheddar's which also has a really good side house salad, I'm just a little mad they only apparently value their french fries at $1 if you don't want them. Offer sides as an even trade please if you are charging the same price a la carte... My 3.8O daughter loves the thick boi fries and has gotten the $8 smashburger meal each time which looked so good I ordered the twice as expensive unsubsidized burger once and it was... fine... The bread is good, maybe I was full from the other stuff, but the burger was just OK... Didn't finish... The empenadas and Dirty Bird chicken sandwich are on my list to chack out next time. My wife thought the chai tres leches stuff was just OK and I thought it was gross, but I generally don't like soggy cake... I loved the chai buns from Neighborhood Bakery, this just didn't fit at all in my opinion.

tl;dr $5 Nitro milk stout good....

Seven fiddy beer last two times we went... Way less crowded on late lunch Saturday. The turkey sandwich was surprisingly good. I don't know if they make their own ranch, but it is excellent as well. Hopefully they don't tip the balance too far to continue to lose customers.
