I don't think they ever got more than like 50% occupancy, parking sucked, and stuff is expensive...

I think the location killed it more than anything. It wasn't easy to get there, and there weren't really any restaurants that made it worth the hassle and expense.

Maybe the few good places will move over to Union Hall, which is doing much better.

I thought their prices were wild, getting a kids hamburger+fries+drink was north of $15, and then most adult meals were 1.5-2x that. Went maybe 2-3 times and each time I had to kick myself wondering why we went back.

Never went.. only been to the one down town twice

Parking sucks, i got no time for that

Eating out is just too crazy priced. I can cook a family meal for 1/4 the cost of going to a sit down restraunt. If we didnt have gluten free family members, i could bring that number way down.

Easy to make a family meal for under 15.00 at home for the average family

Are you saying $15 per person or altogether?

What size family?

We usually have 2 adults and 1 pre-teen during the week, but on weekends have 4-6 adults and 1 pre-teen.

I can easily do $15 per person and probably less, but not the whole family for that.

Edit: I guess that depends on what you want to eat...Spaghettios are pretty cheap, lol JK

Six dollars for hamburger meat, one dollar for taco seasoning, three dollars for tortillas, three dollars for cheese $1.50 for a can of beans, two bucks for it microwavable bag of Mexican rice.

Six dollars for hamburger meat, dollar 50 for noodles, three dollars for a jar of pasta sauce, three dollars for cheese, four dollars for a premade bag of salad, three bucks for a loaf of garlic bread.

Six dollars for rotisserie chicken, $1.50 for spaghetti noodles, $1.50 for a can of seasoned diced tomatoes in a can, $1.50 for a can of cream of mushroom soup, five dollars for cheese, three dollars for sour cream, one dollar for taco seasoning

Hamburgers and chips, chili, dogs and chips, sandwiches and chips or air fried french fries/tater tots

$15-$20 for a family of four it's pretty doable

I mean you're not gonna do steaks but you don't eat that every day anyway

Weird / inconvenient location.

As was said, location and parking killed it. A bigger play area like slow rise or shorty's would have helped on that side of town too.

We soured on it solely because the prices got ridiculous. Location and parking weren't an issue at all.

It has been said before but he's parking was bad. Prices were bad. Seemed way higher than other restaurants. And location wasn't good as it was in a hard to get spot with very limited routes to get there, especially if you had to go through the 84/6 lights.

And the prices can be even cheaper if you are buying bulk. Like Costco or Sam's. Meat can then be like $4.50 a pound and everything else cheaper as well.

But way cheaper than a kids meal being $15 bucks

I routinely get my per meal per person cost flattened out to $3-4/ for a week of planned meals. And we eat steak once/week usually.

$3 for tortillas ain't breaking any bank, but I've been really enjoying making tortillas lately. If you get you a comal and a press you can make a ton for $4 and they taste so much better than store bought. You can get a whole lot of legit tasting Mexican food for next to nothing.

That's dozens of meals for under $14. Not listed is the cilantro I grow, but that's also next to nothing in price. We'll eat that probably 4 times a week and I'll add an egg to it another 2 or 3 lunches a week too. You can also use it to make gorditas, sopes, tostadas, and tacos dorados if you want to buy some oil.
Noooo evidence for that, babeeyyy, just maaade it up.

Start doing your own beans and rice from dry packages as well

Cost savings usually equates to time in kitchen and planning

I never went to the location that is closing. I've been to the one downtown twice. Parking is an issue downtown, not in to street parking in a sketchy location and walking three blocks. If I want a burger and a beer I have to go to the burger stand and order and then into the bar and order and wait. Both places want a tip. The bar prices are outrageous (even as bar prices go). Too much friction in the process.

I am not into the concept. Perhaps it works for lunch if you work downtown and can walk from the office. Does not work (for me) as a destination location.

I rarely use microwave rice. It was an example to get it done cheap and fast to the table. Home cooking the rice from a bulk 5pound bag is even cheaper but takes longer.

I can make 4-5 nutrient rich satisfying meals for a family of 4 for the price of one trip to an average restraunt like Olive Garden or Cheddars

Our family chooses to spend money on other things besides expensive food and beverages

3 blocks in Waco is about 250 steps. It's not like you're walking 1/2 mile even if you have to walk 3 blocks. I swear people act like complete invalids these days and wonder why they're fat and out of shape

At Union Hall there's no parking even if you're blocks away and there's not great seating. Who wants to walk 3 blocks for take out. I don't see it being around the next 5 years

It's almost like there is some magical 3 block force field that keeps people from seeing the parking lots across the street.
