My wife and I tried Hewitt's newest restaurant Friday evening - Agave's Mexican Kitchen.
We arrived about 6:15 that evening and the parking lot was packed. We parked next door at the eye doctor's office and walked up the hill.
We had about a 20-minute wait for our table. We opted to wait outside because the weather was nice and the place was full.
It's a small establishment. The building has been resurrected from the Chopstix (located directly behind in a new build.) For those really old school folks, the edifice is the original Bush's from the 80's.
But I digress, after my wait time had expired, I went inside to ask the hostess when we would be called. They expired some confusion and someone took our table. They took my cell phone, but I never received a call.
When I saw my name scratched, they immediately rectified the situation and gave us a choice of a newly cleaned booth or table.
Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly. I ordered a 22oz Modelo and my wife order the margarita served in a "Big O" schooner.
To say that it was strong was an understatement. My wife isn't a big drinker, but it knocked her on her a$$.
She ordered the street tacos, which she received 5. They were awesome. I ordered the Quesabirras, which came plated in three. The consome was great. If (when) I order this again, I'll ask the server to have the cook place the onions and cilantro inside with the birria. Otherwise, they come as a toping.
Having said all that, we waited for our food for a LONG time. I bet it was more that 20-30 minutes. I would normally get upset with this, but my wife was really enjoying her margarita and our server keep apologizing and kept us filled with chips and salsa (which were also really good.)
TL;DR,
It was really good, but due to large crowd and newness, it was a longer than normal meal. The prices were good; service and food were great. We'll be back.
