Any recommendations for a good eye doc with a decent selection of frames?

I've relatively new to wearing glasses. I got my first pair two years ago at 49. My family and I have been to Hewitt Eyes a few times. The doctor their is retiring. He did a very thorough exam (at least, I think he did - I've only been to an eye doctor about 4 times in my life.)

His selection was good - I think. Most of his staff was good. Without calling anyone out there, I just wanted to know if there are better choices in the area.

PS. Do most people buy their frames at the eye doctor, online, third-party?

They also have a good selection of frames if you want to buy there.

Green Eye

Optometrist. Dr. Johnson at Waco Vision. Sells contact lenses no frames but glasses are available next door at eyemart.
Opthalmologist. Dr Smith is excellent. Did residency in Philadelphia at Wills.

Dr Green with Green Eye Associates in Waco is excellent. She is a Baylor alumni and huge Baylor hoops fan as well.

Retail is ridiculous with pricing

Exam and prescription from Dr. Green (nice lady and good eye doc). Frames online (Warby Parker).

Stacie's taken care of me and my family since I moved back to Waco. She's a top notch medical professional. Every year I show up, there's a new whiz-bang machine that does something else really cool. Whatever the leading research is on eye care, I'm pretty sure she has it.

They sell high end frames and lenses at high end prices. If you want to get your prescription and shop elsewhere, that's an option. I've lived off my same pair of glasses for a decade, and just replenish my daily wear supply every year with my insurance benefit.

If you're not against a trip to Killeen, Dr Tommy Lucas is a good friend and a great Baylor Bear.

Waco Eye Associates has some very good docs. I've been going to John Liu for 30 years and he's wonderful. Always takes time to explain everything really well, and is great at follow up.

I used Salganik for years before i started travelling. Very competent and cute polite nurses but it isnt on the cheap end. In most countries you can go in and tell them what strength you want. No prescription needed and you can get a years worth of monthly contacts for under 100 dollars.

If you use BSW system and they work with the insurance you have, I use Dr. Alyce Alven. She is great!

I do use BSW and need to get my prescription updated..Do you have to go elsewhere for the actual eyeglasses?

I do not wear eyeglasses- so I wouldn't be able to answer that question for you. Sorry about that!
