It isn't just this year. Or just basketball. Happens all the time in football too but more often in basketball. But I think it does seem like it is happening more in basketball this year.

I've often wished that a player would just run into a coach when they do that, but that might not be smart, I suspect they'd be whistled with a charging foul.
