Wild to think 422 of those are Scott Drew.

This is quite misleading. While it's nice to have a legacy of success like the schools at the top of the list, more relevant are the records over the past 10 years are so. I don't know what that would look like but I bet it would be radically different, except for Kansas. Baylor would be near the top instead of closer to the bottom.

So, Historian is telling us History is misleading. Pardon as I process...

I agree it is more important what a team/school has done lately, with the added point winning teams trend to continue winning and vice versa (Baylor is a big exception to this, last 20 years).

Getting back to historical trivia, the Big 12 is adding three schools who have won a National Championship in mbb; Utah (1944), Arizona(1997), and Cincinnati -twice, (1961,1962). Cincinnati made the final four 3 straight with the great Oscar Robertson. Then, after he left, and with a new coach, they won back to back NCs and lost in the final in 1963.

Just like media reports, historical information can be presented selectively or without context. Maybe in the big picture sense, an overall record can be important. But what happened decades ago is not relevant to a team today.

I didn't realize Texas Tech has more all time wins than Baylor

Baylor did have a long stretch with few wins, especially Drew's first few years. Those were some very unusual extenuating circumstances. That's what makes Drew's accomplishments so spectacular.

To piggyback on Historians post,Early in the Drew era,We had few wins and fewer opportunities because the NCAA didn't allow us to play any non conference games one season.

If current trends continue, Baylor MBB should win at least 20-25 games and contend for the conference title every year while the other B12 team expected to do that will be Kansas. In 10-20 years Baylor should be near the top of that list. If those trends include some Final Four appearances & maybe another natty, then our successes will be stellar by any standard.

I like to dream big. Sic 'em!

The list is literally titled "all-time" wins. Not wins in the last 10 or even 20 years.

It is what it is. Which is not misleading at all.

What is, is.
What was, will be.
What will be WAS, but will be again.

Baylor had a *very* long stretch with few wins that goes back long before Drew. We aren't passing anybody on the list save Arizona State in most of our lifetimes. We sucked donkey for that long.

But we're positioned to be at or very near the top of the conference so long as Scott Drew is happy and here. We all need to remember that when the inevitable down year hits at some point.

My point is all time wins don't mean much today. Baylor MBB was terrible for years and now is elite. Those past failures don't matter now except as an indicator of Coach Drew's success. There are programs with a history of great success in one sport or another that are mediocre at best now. Texas football (really most sports) is probably the best example but there are others. Bama is not great in 2023 because of Bear Bryant but because of Nick Saban. ND's importance today has nothing to go with Knute Rockne. There are so many examples.

Baylor basketball was pretty much intramural-level from 1987 until Scott Drew arrived.

Everything related to Baylor basketball should be referred to as BSD and ASD.

I'd even go so far as to say BZ and AZ

Before zoubek

After zoubek

That call made up on the spot changed basketball history
