I'm proud of him on what he has had to overcome with his torn ACL, and also what happened with his eye last year

I love Langston, and I definitely have him in my top two. I 100 percent agree with your last sentence. But I've still got to go with Dennis as our best player. He either produces or sets up most of our scoring and is a really crafty defender when he's dialed in.

I want to see those two take this team over. They're the alphas. Let everyone else follow/fall in around them. In addition to making us a better team, that will take pressure off the freshmen and our more timid veteran players such as Bridges and Nunn. Let those guys be role players, while our Big 2 take on the leadership/starring roles.

I am extremely happy for Love who appears to be all the way back from the torn ACL. Love is a one-dimensional player (scoring), but he is extremely skilled at that one dimension. I like how our staff is starting to iso him more on the block. He has been showing improved vision and has made some excellent passes out of the post when double-teamed or off of penetration. We have two guards with unique skill sets in Langston and Dennis who both feel comfortable playing out of the post.

If Dennis locks in on defense, I agree. His focus is pretty sporadic on D but, when focused, he is surprisingly decent even with the athletic limitations.

I have noticed that too! He and Walter are both great on the boards.

I think it's likely Dennis does some in-game load management on the defensive end of the floor. He's so important and so heavily involved in our offense that he has to get some in-game "rest" to make it through the 32 minutes per game he averages for us.

He is asked to do so much for this team, and we've seen him wear down a couple of times in our overtime games. I don't think it's likely realistic to expect him to play shutdown defense all the time. But I've been pleasantly surprised by how effective he can be on that end of the court when he really locks in.

With his size, the coaches have challenged him recently to be a better rebounding guard and he has responded. It's part of the reason why his two biggest rebounding games of the entire season, including non conference, have come against TCU and UCF. Something to keep an eye on.

He's playing with a physicality this season that he has not in the past. Part of that, I'm sure, is that he's finally healthy. But I don't think he's been challenged in that area and has responded.

A man playing with kids and it shows. Freshmen are playing like freshmen. He is playing like a junior.
