The officials from tonight's game should be ****-canned Monday morning. Criminally bad officiating.

And in Typical Big 12 fashion, absolutely nothing will change.

Can we all agree now that John Higgins ain't so bad?

NBA does a Last 5 minute report card for refs in every game.

I'm glad Yourmark was in the house to see this mess. personally.

Is there any way to start an investigation on those refs? That was a terrible display of bad calls with some type of ulterior motive!! The Iowa State coach was running up and down the sidelines way into the court and nothing was ever said or called about that!!! Hopefully the Big 12 Commissioner who was there at the game will investigate those refs or maybe he was behind it all, who knows?!?! This is beyond ridiculous!

Comparatively, yes. lol.

I mean Higgins is kinda bad, but he would never make an ejection personal which is what happened to CSD tonight.

The ****? Hell no. This was just one game, Higgins made his career reffing games like the possessed old man ref in Little Nickey.
Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

1. Yes the officiating was execrable

2. No, the league won't do diddly about it, at least in public

3. Privately, the Big 12 will send some kind of apology to Drew. It will have less meaning than a politician's promise, though

4. I believe the Bears are about to become very dangerous. A BS ejection like tonight's can deflate a team, or give them a cause to fight for. These Bears maybe believed they could win without too much work before, and it cost them in the 3 close losses. Now they have reason to believe they have been cheated but prevailed, and they believe in each other. Nunn was amazing at the end, but everyone contributed in the comeback after the refs tried to give the game to Iowa State and I think Baylor is going to be much better the rest of the way this season because of tonight's win.

You can't find one game we've played at KU that has been as bad as that second half. Worst officiated half in big 12 history. Wild

Most likely, Yes.

It is believed he was suspended after this incident:

I'm really starting to wonder. They need to do a deep dive of that crew.

Nah, last year's game at KU (i think. Maybe it was in Waco, or maybe 2 yrs ago?) was the worst officiating I've ever seen, and i don't think its likely i'll ever see anything close. We had a big halftime lead despite the refs (would have been 20 pts or more without the refs completely in the tank for KU) and I said immediately that we'd have to have another perfect half (we didn't) or we'd lose to those refs (we did). This was stupid, but it wasn't remotely close to that KU game, and I'm honestly not sure it's even in the top 5 badly officiated games we've had in the past 2 or 3 years (which certainly says something all on its own)

Yormark left at halftime. But it was nationally televised, so there's tape.

Maybe Hartness willl ref a game at KU and pull this against KU/Self.

I agree I've seen far worse games at KU.

This has to be the laziest most obvious attempt at some kind of point shaving or just pure vendetta against a team I've ever seen.

Guys like Higgins are much more discreet at controlling the outcome of a game.

Unless that game had a ref calling two of the most undeserved techs against a coach you'll ever see as petty retribution for taking normal criticism for some head-scratching foul disparities...then this game was the worst.

I mean the start of that 2nd half was officiated like the refs were trying to set a tone, or re-establish control of a game that was out-of-control...except I don't think that was the impression anyone had of that game up until that point. It was a pretty normal, hard fought B12 game. It wasn't even chippy!

The only explanation for those two bizarre techs, a visiting team shooting 1-1 from the 15:05 mark on, a 10-3 foul disparity at the 10:00 mark, and a 30-12 FTA disparity with 5 minutes to go....is a butthurt ref who didn't like CSD being in his ear making normal objections to calls.

This was absurd to see at this level. A normal game got flipped upside down in a heartbeat. The entire vibe changed. And from BY's perspective as a marketer of the league, he has to see that this was a VERY unpleasant game to watch. And I won't even get into the failed clock operations at the end, or the weird way we are now apparently using replay to count tenths of a second...lol.

Did this crew or individual have a vendetta against Drew or Baylor? Based on what if so?
tomiathon
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The FT disparity was crazy, no doubt, but apart from the sheer volume of calls all going one way and the 2 techs (and if something over the line was said - though that seems hard to believe from CSD especially - even those are potentially understandable) it's hard to point to anything totally egregious. There were a few calls where there didn't appear to be any contact, but we have to deal with those in literally every game. But I look at that game and I find it hard to think the refs were more than an 8-10 pt swing, which is abysmally bad, to be sure, but that Kansas game, the refs were +20 for KU at the most generous, and probably at least +30. It was the most obvious "fix is in" game I've ever seen, not even close.

So yeah, that game was infinitely worse than last night. Off the top of my head, I'd also put the Carolina game (and not us, but the title game between UNC and KU was at least as bad in UNC's favor, if not worse) and last year's TCU game ahead of last night. So at worst it's 4th, and that would probably be ranking at least half a dozen games below it that were about as bad that I'm not calling to mind at the moment. Also not near as bad as the Duke E8 game, though that's obviously well beyond the 2-3 year window I'm looking at.

Heck, I was angrier at the officiating in the TCU game last week than I was at this one tbh. Last night was just comically bad, I was rolling my eyes more than I was yelling at the screen.

No chance. HIs lack of explanations to any of the coaches proves he's gutless, so no way he tries that on a coach he knows will make him pay with the League.

To be fair, I also didn't think there were any particular calls that were too egregious per se.

Although, I believe we got whistled for like 4 illegal screens which I think is probably where CSD took the most issue. We probably avg a couple of those a game, but 4 is a bit much considering illegal screens are a little bit like offensive holding in football (usually only called when it's super obvious).

This dude got angry at Drew and took it out on the team. He lost his neutrality and what little professionalism he had as an official. He should not officiate any sport. If that wasn't bad enough, the timekeeper fvk up gave Iowas St a TO they didn't have and allowed them to inbound the ball at 3/4 court instead of full court. The team had every reason to quit, but fought for the win. Great job Bears!

That's where CSD drew the first tech. We had been called for at least three illegal screens. Then ISU was setting a moving screen in the paint and CSD. And on the court yelling. He deserved a T. What happened after all that is almost inexplicable to me…

I'd have to go back and watch but there were fouls called on us by a ref who was out of position to make the call, and where the ref who was on position did not make the call. I'm not sure if that was Hartness or not.

Yeah, agreed. Those always seem to go one way against us, too.
