Season's over, Hurley dominated another tournament, hard to argue he's not the best active coach right now, but recency bias is always a thing.

Curious how people would rank the top 5 (active) coaches in college basketball right now.

Some non exclusive suggestions for people's lists:

Coaches With A national championship:
Bill Self, Scott Drew, Tony Bennett, Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Tom Izzo, and Dan Hurley

Hot Coaches with a Final 4:
Mark Few, Nate Oats, Kelvin Sampson, Bruce Pearl, Mick Cronin, Rick Barnes, Dusty May, Matt Painter

No rules on criteria, I think it's totally fair to argue that the entire career is valuable with someone like Rick Pitino but also just as fair to say he hasn't done it in years he's past his prime he's not top 5 anymore.

Drew is on the current top 5 for sure. The others you put on the list all would deserve a place. Drew does more with less (meaning tradition) than any of the others. With all the Kentucky talk, the fan support/tradition is really the only reason I could see him leave.
Hurley is the clear number 1 right now, but the more I see him coach and interact with refs, fans etc the less
I like him. He can be such a jackass at times.
My top thee, then a bunch of others that could go 4-10, Oats, Underwood, Pearl, Few Izzo, etc.
Hurley
Self
Drew (probably a little biased)

Drew

Hurley I'd suppose would have to be 1

Houston coach maybe goes just above Drew given the last 3 years although Drew has the higher peak, but just based on him being able to seemingly keep players in his program longer in this new pay for play eta. Maybe that's the feetitta effect though akd baylor ran off all our fertittas with the Briles debacle.

I believe he was #5 this year behind Cal Izzo Self and Barnes. Rumors of six million plus would move him up to 2nd or 3rd.
