So can he play this year? Might not be much help but we are in dire need of forwards.

He played a couple of games this year for Tenn prior to injury, so this year would have been a red shirt for him. Can't play this season. He is also listed as a point guard. I am hoping Wright will still be in Waco next year. Hope this move does not suggest otherwise.

We will be losing Roach, Nunn, and VJ and I expect Love to medically retire or leave. So either way we need to completely revamp and reload our backcourt.

Our best playmaker, at 5-11, is not likely to go first round NBA...if we lose him, it's because we lack the will to pay him to keep him out of the portal. Kid from Tennessee looks like a project, not instant help.

I think most are alluding to the portal on Wright.. which is possible. Only special talents like Paul could make the jump at their size. Wright has the skills to be a pro by around year 3 which is perfect for building a team. Dude has great skills but is having mid year struggles with pace and agressive college defenses.

Size and defense is his only limiiting factor.. the rest is that nearly all PGs struggle in year 1 at the college level. He'll get there with consistent coaching and physical development/experience. Must keep him to build any semblance of continuity.

Carr is not a point guard. He's a 2/3.

I think you're right.. probably the 2 but in Drew's system it doesn't matter all that much. High upside prospect that was expected to break out next year with TN but need a bunch more to turn the roster structure around. Its a sneaky good pick up though.

I'm finally glad to have a 6'5" guard with an enormous wingspan instead of typical backcourt of smurfs that somehow end up on the opponent's center almost every time in our bad defensive switches.

We need 10 guys who can contribute at this level so he is a welcome addition, particularly since he gets to practice and familiarize himself with Drew and our processes well before summer or next fall.

1. Wright
2. Celestine
3. Josh O
4. Asemota
5. Carr
6. Yessoufou

I look at that list and see 2 starters, the rest reserves. So we are gonna have to come away with some big production from the transfer portal for 3 or 4 spots.

I don't have him on the list, but it's certainly not because he's gonna be in the NBA next year.

Love was a pro before the first acl tear. Had he stayed healthy he was a scoring spark off the bench in the pros. Now, he would struggle to catch on in Europe unless he can show consistent availability.

I like the pickup. It seems (though I"m not sure) that this guy was a top 100 signee, not top 20 and thus not in any apparent danger of hopping to the NBA right off the bat. Wondering if this is the first sign of a change from Scott Drew to focus on players that he hopes to develop over a multi year period. Still, with the transfer portal existing there is no guarantee players don't hop. But it does seem that with this move at least, Drew moved away from the one and done philosophy. Still, it's just one pick and who knows? Next week Drew will probably announce another one and done coming in and this post will be proved pretty pointless.

I remember before the knee injury Love was getting more notice than Sochan or Brown. Such a shame. In watching him since--on rebounds for example--it just doesn't look to me like he is playing pain free.

Can this dude play defense? That'd be really helpful.

Yep, I remember it the same. There was huge buzz about Love and Sochan before the season.. with Love's even bigger like you said. Was rooting for him to recover.

I don't know if our fans quite understand how that team would have run through the field if healthy.

Even with the injuries that year, Akinjo makes the basket in regulation how far do we go? Some you win, some you wonder about.
I hope Langston gets to play again. Would love to see it here.
