He transferred to KU after three seasons at Michigan. At the beginning of the '23-'24 season so many analysts were predicting that he would take the Jayhawks to the Final Four one more time for his final season...but alas it did not come true. He draft stock wasn't that great last year, outshined as a center by our own freshman Missi.

He was granted a 5th year of eligibility and thus declared the pre-season Big 12 player of the year, and the Jayhawks were the preseason #1...this was going to be his year. Well they are 21-11, slightly better than us.

His draft stock has him a late 2nd rounder or even undrafted!

If I were Self, I'd call "the Hunt" experiment, a dud.

He's too soft on the defensive end. He knows how to score - but he is much more finesse than power - and that shows up against strong defenders.

Yeah dud is an incredibly poor word. Dickinson has his limitations especially defensively. His antics are also Busch league. However, he's a good college bb player (was never going to play in the pros) take him off this KU team and they aren't dancing

Hunter lacks the mobility to be even an average defender. That said, I think Kansas' biggest problem this year has been inconsistency with the veteran guards, a problem that seems vaguely familiar...

Imperfections and all he easily beats anything we have at that position even with a healthy Josh O (I consider Omier a power forward who can play low post in a pinch which is of course where we are presently).

You're pretty spot on. Their guard play has been pretty bad aside from Mayo. Harris is a good point but he's not a threat to hit the 3. Teams sag off of him and clog the lane. And Storr… talk about the biggest disappointment in CBB he's up there. Dude was a star at Wisconsin

Storr goes from 16.8ppg at Wisc., to 5.6 this year. Only getting 15 minutes a game. Wonder if he goes for the portal hat trick?

Self got 100% of what he wanted in the portal last Summer. It's enough to make a hair piece turn gray.

Just from watching their games you can tell he isn't good defensively. But Ku's defensive ratings are still really good.. their offensive numbers are way down from their standard.

Argument can be made that while he gets his numbers, it can stagnate the offense. Is a pretty good passer though so it's a strange dynamic.

Store being a top target in the portal and completely tanking has killed them. Imagine Roaches disappointment and multiply it by 3.

Ku and Bu missing on touted transfers while teams like Tech, Hou seemingly always hit big on their guys (way cheaper too) is a huge difference maker.

He and Griffen also had huge dips in shooting percentages. Dickinson is a good player. So are KJ Adams and Dajuan Harris. But collectively as a group, they didn't show a lot of chemistry last year, so I was a little surprised Self decided to bring all 3 back. As you said, he got exactly who he wanted out of the portal but I think it shows the next challenge for coaches in the new transfer portal era is to develop a better evaluation process in determining who will fit just as much from a chemistry standpoint as from a productivity from prior school standpoint. And that will be a challenging task that helps determine which side of the great/good/average/bad line a team falls. There's such a small line between the best squads and the good squads. We saw it last night in our game. But it's those little things that ultimately creates the small separation needed.

Off topic but regarding portal transfers. My Hawkeye buddies told me Josh Dix is hitting the portal. If true I hope Drew takes a long hard look at him. Would be the knock down shooter they sorely miss

Little different situation. Iowa isn't in the same stratosphere as BU when it comes to recruiting.
Shouldn't you be busy guaranteeing the fanbase that BU is natty bound in a few weeks?

I wouldn't be sad to see DeVries leave WVU and hopefully take his son with him. I didn't really watch his son play at Drake but those first games this season before he got injured he looked damn good. Like top 5 player in the Big 12 level good.

Tucker is a stud. Would have been All B12 1st or 2nd team. I believe he's applying for a RS
