With the Bill Armstrong to McNeese news, we do have an assistant opening...

Who cares? UT didn't deserve to be in the tournament at all, as proven last night. They were picked to include a name brand and give the SEC a "historical" record.

I posted on another thread Monday that Sean Miller at Xavier would be leading candidate and that appears to be true.

We so desperately need a guy like Terry on the staff. I would love this hire.

He'd be great. But surely Terry is either taking a break or getting a HC job.

I would totally endorse Terry's return to Baylor.

I would also endorse the Baylor grad at Tech taking over the Texas program.

Fill me in. Why are you guys so excited about Terry. His D at Texas has stunk, which is the last thing we need. Was he a good defensive coach when he was here?

If Terry is out, he's taking $5mm+ out the door. Figure he waits around for a HC job. The guy can recruit, so imagine there will be inquiries.

Lot of conversation about getting that great defensive coach. The bigger question to me is what kind of players we want to bring in. When you have that, fit the defense to the talents. You need assistant coaches that believe in the plan. Sometimes younger guys are better than older ones. I'd like to see someone who wants to build something (and a career) over 3-5 years rather than a guy who will be casting his resume for the first opportunities next year.

I kinda think you are correct. I have no idea whether Terry is good as an assistant or not and he was here far before my time, but I suspect he'll land on his feet in a head job at a mid major either this year or next. With as much money as he's getting, I bet it sure makes it a lot easier to sit back and be selective!

I started another thread with a report that Texas was looking at Bill Self. The idea is ludicrous. Then again, after losing the first game of the tournament he or the administration might be thinking about a change.

Filled with arrogance Texas fans and press will name 3 or 4 out of reach coaches and they will settle on someone realistic.

While I want him out of the Big 12, I pray McCasland is not dumb enough to take this poisonous position. As a Baylor alum he has to hate Texas and see their out of touch with reality mindset - right?

there is NO chance Terry would be asked to come to Waco as an assistant. He had some interesting behavior in his trips to Waco to say the least.

I think Texas will end up with Quin Snyder or Sean Miller.

It's kind of like you don't realize that people will teach or be an administrator or coach at a school that isn't their alma mater. I'm pretty sure CGM does not see the world with only green and gold blinders on that you are projecting on him perhaps because you may. Hell our own players do not in the modern age and no one else's players are wearing blinders in their current school colors either. In fact I'm sure CGM doesn't have green and gold blinders at all. He is the HC at Tech currently.

As to the poster alluding to Terry having some sort of scandalous behavior in Waco on road trips here, this is the first I have heard or seen anything about it even here on this board. In fact I have only heard good things about him as a person. I will politely say I'm skeptical.

He had the dust up with our women's team over court practice time.

Plus he already was an assistant here..he's not coming back.

You know that poster is a mod and insider on the bball program, right?

this is what was public but there was more behind the scenes that was a really bad look for Terry and definitely not someone that would be considered for a staff position at Baylor

Drew has a TON of great candidates that would jump at a chance to join the staff

Are they yes men though or innovators who will force Drew to change up this tired offense or coach some defensive. I don't doubt Terry isn't coming but we need someone with a chip on their shoulder and a little attitude.

Texas ought to offer Wade the job he's the obvious best guy on the market right now, no idea if the SEC would allow it though.

Was that in the last 3 years. If it were with the former WBB HC, he might be carrying a permanent scar.

Tired offense? We had basically 6.5 players this year and we were in the top 20 most effective offenses in the country. We have some issues as a program, but offense definitely isn't one of them.

You missed the point. Of course McCasland is all about Tech and Baylor is his competition. But Texas? Different animal. Texas is a school reeking with unwarranted entitlement that almost assuredly would be a miserable experience to coach once the honeymoon is over. Being a Baylor guy he knows this. That was the point.
