I'm die hard Baylor fan but would Houston stand a chance against Duke later on?

I think it depends on how the game is called. A quick tight whistle would favor Duke but a more physical game might stress Duke out. They haven't been in a lot of tight games against similar level athletes.

No, this x Houston team is bad offensively, they'll will lose to the first team they play that is capable of running a consistent offense. Defense only will never carry you to The natty.

Outside of Arizona only Florida matches up well with Duke. Duke is just so big at every position. I am not sure if anyone else can beat them. Arizona would have to play their A game to Dukes C game. Highly doubt Proctor will go 7/8 from three against anyone else this tourney, but they have 5 other players that can drop 20.

If Duke is able to go to the free-throw line 23 times, nobody will beat them.

They have a small chance bc they are older at their featured roles and Sampson was forced to capitulate and focus on 3 point shooting, roster health, and FT shooting.. so made some adjustments.

That said, it's unlikely. Duke has to clamp Cryer and the OU point guard => game over. Their size makes that very possible. Hou's featured guards ironically aren't very athletic. They are endurance and pace guys.

Duke (despite what you think on officiating) was easily the best team we played all year. Omier was spreading Hou out and taking them off the dribble. If Flagg isolates their forwards and Duke gets a Duke whistle => game over.

Houston won't make it that far.

Cryer played a hell of a game tonight. You guys were saying?

Duke controlled the game until they didn't late. Miracle win but most of the reads here were completely accurate. Just have to absolutely kill them and Duke relaxed. Credit for that

Kelvin Sampson… "Don't sleep on Houston!" Don't sleep on Houston!" "We were 34-4 playing in the TOY POODLE LEAGUE, we were 19-1 in the Big12." "Winning in THE BIG12 helped us. Shout out to all our BIG12 brothers for their help."

THAT'S a direct shot at someone. Hooray!

Ok, nevermind. I read the whole context now and understand what he was saying by toy poodle league. I didn't get it at first.

Upperclassmen kept it within reach, didn't quit, sunk a few clutch free throws and shots, and reminded a group of freshmen that you can't disappear in the final few minutes of the game.

Why was he calling the Big 12 the "Toy Poodle Leauge'? I assume that is his reference since they were 15-3 in the Big 12 their first year and then 19-1 this year, for the 34-4.

I can't quote exactly when, where or who. I do remember somewhere earlier in the season from September to present that the reference to "Toy Poodle League" was said. The minute he STATED it I immediately recalled it. I took it as a punch back to whomever stated it of the BIG12. In other words… "you besmirched our League yet here we are." He credited Yomark and Big12 coaches and teams in the Big12.

Credit to Houston for keeping this within striking distance, but wow, Duke has to be kicking themselves they didn't close this one out. I think the complete lack of crunch time experience they had this season ended up getting them.

The win probability chart is kinda wild.

They're bad offensively. It'sa putrid offense but credit to Duke for no ability to pass

They're ranked 10th nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency, which is a pretty concrete stat. It's simply points per possession adjusted for schedule strength.

Houston is effective offensively much for the same reason some of our most overachieving teams were in the past. When you crash the offensive boards really hard and get a lot of second and third chances, you're going to get a lot of shots up and score consistently.

People still downplaying Houston at this point look pretty silly. You can't luck yourself to a national title game. And few No. 1 seeds in history have had a tougher path. By the end of this tournament, Houston will have played (and perhaps beaten) two No.1 seeds, a No. 2 seed, a No.4 seed and dangerous Gonzaga squad as a No. 8 seed. That's basically as tough a road as you can go through to win a national title.
