I'm not sure how many of y'all were fortunate enough to interact with him on these boards over the years, but I heard that Stacy passed away over the weekend.

He was an awesome Baylor fan with boundless knowledge/wisdom and a civil demeanor that made every exchange a positive one for all involved.

He and his insights will be sorely missed.

For those unaware, his handle on here was "Setshot." He was an awesome poster.

His comments on either basketball forum were thoughtful and informative. Greatly missed.

Was he the Stacy Cole who played on the basketball team in the mid 50s?

It was indeed.

I was always super impressed by how knowledgeable he remained on basketball even as it evolved into a very different game from the one he played (at a high level in his own right).

He was a true student of the game who never got bitter about the direction of the sport as the it changed and modernized. He was always learning and eager to share the (immense) knowledge he had gained over his many years as a basketball observer.

If you're a baseball fan, Clint Hurdle is very much the same way on Twitter. He's a great follow, and every interaction I've ever had with him has been super positive. He's an awesome dude, too.

Man, this is a bummer. Setshot is the one poster who, no matter what side of an issue you were on, if he chimed in, you shut up and listened. Incredible knowledge, but an even better way with people.

I hope to be like him when I grow up. Rest easy, Stacy.

I too, like others have said already, really appreciated his posts. We pm'd a couple of times about hoops. I always valued his opinions and loved to take time to ready his posts. In many ways it was like getting insider knowledge. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Any family members that read this, know he was respected and his views were appreciated by many on this board. It's a weird little family we have here, but I love seeing people like Setshot that love Baylor like most of us do on this board.

Setshot was probably the best poster on this site when it came to basketball.

May he RIP.
