Walter absolutely needed to be reigned in… dude lead the team in shot attempts while shooting well below 40% from the field. He had zero business putting up more shots than Dennis, Bridges, or a healthy LL
Walter could have taken fewer shots. He took 7 more shots than Dennis but could get to the foul line way more, which until Clemson was a good thing. The fact was that team could become stagnant when they went cold from outside. Dennis, as good as he was, never seemed to sync up.
Something I have been thinking about is the fact we talk a great deal about the Freshman one-and-dones, but ignore the other one-and-dones: the veteran point guards we have brought in 3 of the last 4 years (Keyonte's year is the year of pg by committee, which was a fail in its own right) for just one season. Drews system appears to me to allow for a great deal of freedom, which puts more responsibility on the pg to direct traffic. Thinking back at the big post season runs we have had the past 15 years or so, the runs came with veteran point guards invariably on their second year in the system (Pierre is an exception, but Pierre was always an exception).
