Worth the listen for those curious about the upcoming season. He had Ashley Hodge on today. Few things caught my eye.
1) Baylor actually had a 3rd scrimmage against OU that was more under the radar. Baylor beat them handily. Bodo Bodo outplayed their transfer big from Nova whose pretty damn good
2) Baylor actually hired a firm to evaluate potential transfers personalities (first time Drew has done that)
3) Baylor is very high on Brent Decker. He's expected to be one of the 3 leading scorers. That surprised me because several on this board aren't high on him at all.
4) it's likely in Baylor's best interest in the 5th year guys are ruled ineligible. Hodge mentioned that Tech, KU, Cincy all have very good 5th year guys awaiting that ruling that could alter the conference race.
5) Young Mingo likely won't be a huge scoring threat this year. Hodge doesn't expect him to average more than 6-8 ppg
Anyway go check it out. Lots of interesting tidbits

Good synopsis.

-Baylor MBB Twitter (X) account showed a couple of highlights from the OU scrimmage earlier in October.

-Decker reminds me of LJ Cryer in that if his feet are set, he's absolute money from the outside and showed that in the first half against Illinois until they switched a taller defender on him and shut him down in the 2nd half. The negative with him is that he's very short (somehow went from 6'3" when we signed him to now listed at 6'0") and so when taller defenders stepped up to guard him in those exhibitions it caused him to take off balanced shots, which he was not very accurate. He's lack of quickness on D was a bit of struggle at times too, but Tang did a good job of giving help. We should have a really good feel for what he provides in the next few weeks. Either way, he is an extreme positive because you've gotta have a pretty solid outside shooter and a continuous 3 point threat and he is that. And you also need as many ball handlers as you can get. Whether starting or as reserve, he will be a critical component of this team's success.

-KU, in my opinion, was in big trouble until they regained 5 year eligibility in the last 2 weeks for Council and Tre White, then appears to be set to add Trey Kaufman-Renn for what should be a 6th friggin' year.

-Same with Tech by re-adding Darrion Williams, Steve Atwell and soon to be added Jamichael Stillwell.

-UC has also added 3 more guys.

I'll be so glad when this current state of some are eligible, some not sh*t show is done and the courts are finally out of this (or at least hopefully!).

Thanks for sharing Iowa! I just finished listening to it and he has another earlier episode following up the Florida exhibition, both are great to listen to. I am pumped for this team and the upcoming season!

I think Decker starts and we bring Isaac Williams off the bench, to be able to stagger his minutes with Cayden Mingo. We will also need Decker's shooting when playing alongside Dylon Mingo, since Dylon can't shoot threes. Williams will still play over 30 minutes per game though.

Nice summary. I agree Dylon is not scorer. Weird hitch in his shot. He will need to fix that if he has any hopes of an NBA career.

That makes sense. It was amazing how our entire offensive energy level blew through the ceiling in both exhibitions the minute Isaac came off the bench. I also like Dylan and Decker on the floor where Decker's outside shooting threat offsets Dylan and Dylan's D helps to offset some of Decker's challenges. Can't wait until Monday!

Looking forward to a great basketball season. I love basketball because you get more than one game a week.

Just hope that for a change, serious season altering injuries to key players don't happen. If so, this could end up being a really special year.

Its really not that hard. You get four years to play college sports. Once you've played four seasons, you're done. Shocking.
