But he has no more opportunities this season to make his case. So if anyone else--say Jared Butler--were in the running, the door should be open a crack. I'm just speculating because I really don't know what the chances of that happening are. It's probably a pipe dream.

They don't use the tournament in POY discussion. Heck, the POY could conceivably come from a team who didn't make the NCAA.

I liked him better than Cunningham.

The B1G has always been the king of hype (at least since the old Big East fell apart) and I hadn't watched Iowa until today, so I thought he was just another big, overrated stiff who couldn't do anything except shoot a 3 footer. After watching him today, man was I wrong. Not sure what kind of pro career he will have since he's not overly mobile, but he can shoot from anywhere on the court. Very impressive.

Thanks everyone for your input. It seems to be a lock for Garza and I was just curious if that were really the case. There will be a competition for show but unless somebody changes their mind in a big way, the prediction will hold this time.

It would be nice for Jared to get it but we would all rather have the National Championship.

He's super skilled. Unfortunately, the NBA no longer has much place for a 7-footer who can't either switch on pick and rolls or protect the rim like a boss.

It sucks, too, because I love watching skilled offensive post players like Garza or Boban Marjanovic. But those guys are end-of-the-bench role players in today's NBA.
