Notice no chattering on the board in a long time. No new topics. Reasons

1. Not playing right now, but UConn board stays active in off periods
2. Playing good but not really great given high talent level, so blah
3. Waiting to see where new coach is going with the team, pulling for her, she is so likable and inspiring, yet team does not play inspired (lack of rebounds, missed free throws, lack of hustle)
4. Focus has shifted to the men's board where we are undefeated and ranked no.1
5. Need to get conference games started and see who we really are. ESPN just did article calling out or vulnerabilities in conference for the first time in a decade plus
6. We all love the new coach and know she deserves three season to make the team her own so we are waiting patiently with a positive attitude.
7. Some frequent posters were more Kim fans than WBB fans, so they have lost interest or are watching LSU


I give up. Why the silence? Any of these, all of these, did I miss a possibility?

It's Christmas break and there's a ton on uncertainty as to whether games are even going to be played the way things are going now. Suspect it'll pick up as conference play starts assuming those games are played.

Maybe they still post because it's too cold in UConn country to do anything outdoors after you split firewood and shovel the drive. In Texas we are still mowing grass and working on our tans.

Currently, there is no news forthcoming about our team, our coaches, recruiting…….nothing. We need Barbara Spitzer! Did you know Baylor chose not to refill her position?

Thats sad. She was a jewel. Always helpful. A lot of things have changed that to me do not seem to be for the better. Yet we've got a couple of experts on here assuring us we're headed to the promised land

No shame here, it's #2, 3 and little of 7 for me. I am still a Baylor WBB fan, but I'm also watching LSU. I honestly find it easier to watch LSU right now because they are like a pack of rabid underdogs with a real desire to see just how far they can go this season. I love to see the fight and heart, and I just haven't seen that from Baylor so far this season. So, go ahead and crush me with your responses, just calling it like I see it currently.

I think the gals are playing hard but I'm seeing a sloppiness and a lack of discipline in their play I am not used to seeing.

To begin the season it looked like conditioning was poor as well, but that has improved as the season has progressed.

I have tried to not be critical as this is the first year of our new coach and her coaching team. I remain a strong fan of the team but have adjusted my expectations.

I was a big fan of KM and the consistently excellent product she put on the floor, but am not interested in what she does now. My loyalty is to BU.

There is no shame in following both Baylor and LSU when it's for the right reasons. Kim is a HOF Coach, and for quite awhile she was OUR coach. Our seats are right across from the bench because we loved watching Kim almost as much as we loved watching the games. Now we watch Nicki and are excited to dream of what the future might hold under her leadership. We, too, will watch some of LSU's games, though our support will always be behind Baylor WBB.

I agree. I watched LSU just last night and they play with fire and excitement. I'm a BU fan and always will be (season ticket holder since Mary Lowry days) but it's so hard for me to watch these Bears. I don't sense a drive in them. I know it's early. We have a new coach with a new system. We lost a lot of talent last year. Is it possible that Collen, coming from the WNBA, is not accustomed to the "teaching" that's required in college ball? She's used to stars that already know what to do. I'm grasping. Just my thinking out loud.

One additional reason for few new threads is that this is also a slow time for the WNBA (and our WNBA alums).

I was thinking the same thing...this forum is not what it used to be...I think the Premium aspect has hurt this board. I enjoy the premium content very much but where I used to come here to talk WBB there is a lot of discussion on the catch all Premium side...I notice a few posters who post there who used to post here, I try to do both and Slime does a great job of staying faithful as well he double posts almost everything.

The bad thing is this forum is so divided by those who still love and respect Kim and those who believes she should never be mentioned. While on the premium you will have a bunch of posters who do not like WBB at all and wish we did not have a program or could care less come on to just talk smack and put down the game. They had a field day when Kim left. A lot of deep-seated jealousy for all her success and making WBB relevant...came out.

I hope we all survive as I enjoy the WBB game and talking about it. Kim certainly made it entertaining and fun. It is the Holiday break as well... Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Actually, I believe she is an excellent teacher and coach, though for our girls I think changing from Kim's system to Nicki's may be like speaking English all your life then suddenly being required to speak French - after you are already in Provence. This is not an easy system to learn, though I do believe it's the way of the future. Heck, Kim's even added the 3-ball. We may all have to just grit our teeth for a season or two, love our team win or lose, and re- discover the virtue of patience!

I agree with everything you said and I love CNC, excited for the new system and the team...that said I do miss Kim and her mind-numbing excellence, I mean she had the same system and style for what 21 years with remarkably high results year in and year out...I miss the high level of play game to game...I just don't know many coaches who can do what she did and does any better. I am mad at the Administration and Mack for letting her walk I think they could have prevented it and it did not involve more money. I love Mack and the administration for a lot of good things they have done and are doing but, in my opinion, they botched this by letting a HOF coach walk.

Now if you hated Kim, her style and somehow felt we should have had more National Championships then I am sure you are happy but in the WBB world BU came out of this transition with a Blackeye. That is not a knock-on CNC who is liked and respected by most everyone...but you just don't let a HOF coach walk right after she gets inducted into the HOF....

Kim's teams beat you with heart and guts and 40 minutes of hell. That's why she wins 95% of her games and always will until she retires.

The jury is out on the new coach but she deserves a few years to see what she can do with the program.

8. Almost every topic quickly devolves into a stupid pissing match. Most of us don't give a flyin' frijole about said contests and just sit out.

This board is like the R&P board so far as that goes, and both are dying (if not already dead).

But how far do you go to not let them go? Are there no limits? My experience says that there must be. Regardless of what you lose, there are still limits to what you should do and should not do to keep someone. Because when you cross those limits, you set a precedent that you would have to respect every time an employee pushes the envelope. And eventually it all blows up in your face. I don't know what the story really was, and at this point I don't really care. I can imagine scenarios that may have caused her to walk out. I don't think it was one-sided either way. But it still goes back to my original question and premise that there must be limits as to what you are willing, able, or should do, especially when massive egos are involved. If what you can do is not good enough, well that just has to be the way it is.

So now we are back at the old pssng contest, which will kill this board if we don't stop.

There would be a lot less pissing matches if people would leave Kim out of threads. But for some reason a handful of posters seem to feel the need to take subtle digs at her by dragging her into discussions. Unnecessarily causing a rebuttal from those who support, understand just how much she accomplished for BU and just how great of a coach she truly was. Most have moved on to support CNC maybe those who can't help but take pot shots should move on as well and this board would become what it once was. Admittedly I'm not sure what that was because I'm still fairly new as a poster

I am aghast that we are still talking about Kim Mulkey on the website. I think she was an excellent coach and I appreciated the way that she stood up for Baylor in a time of crisis, but she is gone. You can speculate all you want, but she is gone. Our new coach had absolutely nothing to do with this. Plaease quit comparing or talking about Kim. It does no one any good. Enough!!!!

Agree, IB. OP clearly set up a trolling thread with the purposely overblown adjectives, then thought he/she was cleverly disguising it by at least waiting a few bullets before mentioning Mulkey. Then, hilariously weighs in during the thread and says MOVE on, trying to gloss over the fact that he/she is the one who brought Mulkey into the thread through his/her original post. Almost every post from him/her contains a Mulkey reference. A quick search pretty much confirms it.
