I'd guess it is a fairly even race between Smith, Boston and Clark.

I'm not sure this is out of ill-will or anything towards Nalyssa. Boston really just does deserve it.

While our fans think Smith is in the running (and she should be), most WBB media say it's a two player race between Clark and Boston. I don't read Kalani's tweet as intentionally slighting Smith. I read it as being aimed at yet another Iowa player with a shot to win it, when Iowa's offense year-in, year-out is designed in a way that 1 player has the opportunity to put up huge numbers through taking a majority of the team's shots. It was the same with the Gustaphson girl that won it when Kalani played. In fact, 2 players (Clark and another) combined to take almost 60% of all shots for the year.

Neither Clark nor Boston is a senior,right?So Smith should still be the first pick in the draft.

Keeping true to their ways, look at the posters on this site who jump to conclusions, insert innuendoes, and attack simply when someone else shares their opinion (Kalani). You people need help. She's simply sharing her opinions.

Still seems like a bad look to not support your teammate.

If Kalani honestly believes that Boston deserved it then there is nothing wrong with her expressing her opinion, even being passionate about it. She should not say Smith deserves the honor unless she believes it.

Interesting post.
I thought that Clark probably deserved it last year. Exchange Clark and Bueckers and Clark might have won it. UCONN stars are bright, but shine brighter in the galaxy of ESPN sponsorship than the one out there in the cornfields of Iowa.
She leads in scoring and was right up there in assists, and does this on a team that has a good post player, but not many other notable players of quality. She is the most sensational long range shooter I have seen in women's basketball, at any level, but she can also get to the basket, pass exceptionally well, and rebound. Given her other responsibilities, her defense is at the very least average. She had a bad game and Iowa lost to Creighton on a last second three pointer, but no one should question the legitimate claim she has as one of the finest players in the nation.

Boston is solid in every respect and I admire her game and how she approaches it. She is not only the best player on the best team, but she has no peer as a collegiate interior player. She does have a stellar cast around her, but that does not change the fact that Dawn Staley has built her team around this extraordinary talent.

All of that being acknowledged, NaLyssa Smith has two years in a row been the best all around player in the game in my view. She has no weakness in her game when fatigue does not deflect her from the efficiency that she shows from contest to contest. The load that she has carried for this team has been greater than that of any player since Griner, and she has given it her full attention.

I admire the two other contenders, and I expect Boston to win it, with Clark a reasonably close second. NaLyssa is much admired by those who know and particularly those professionals who work the collegiate scene at their various tasks. She should have a higher profile than she does, even though her work at Baylor has garnered her a multiplicity of honors.
We have been fortunate to have her.

We have been very blessed to have Smith. We are also blessed to have Coach Collen & others.
