From what I have read, Vic's problem is that he creates turmoil within his team resulting in a portal merry-go-round. That is hard on fans who don't know who will be there the next year.

Now, I don't know if that is true or not, but if so, while that may work for a while, it is not a recipe for sustained long-term success.

Congratulations to the Iowa Women BB team for winning the tournament championship. I noticed several things they did well:

1. On offense: a. Constant player movement players moved when they didn't have the ball, rather than standing around waiting for the ball to come to them. b. Shooters used the backboard when in control of the ball under the basket rather than attempting to float the ball into the net. c. Players were well conditioned; continuing to move the ball toward the basket even in the fourth quarter. d. Passes were made overhead when near the basket, or switching on a screen, as opposed to bounce pass BU attempted, and with poor results, much of the year.

2. On defense a. players had their hands up, or out, rather than standing around with their hands on their hips, b. players were well coached to move into the lanes when a trapped player was attempting to pass the ball into the back court, the result being a lot of Texas turnovers. c. Iowa State played the zone well styming Texas entirely in the second half.

Totally disagree with your "ill fated bounce pass BU attempted, and with poor results, much of the year".
Sarah, Jaden and Caitlin got most of their assists from that "ill fated" bounce pass to low post - most of them to DLB.

You and I remember the bounce pass differently; while it may have worked early in the year, by mid season most teams were prepared to pick it off, and did so successfully, with the results being a lot of turnovers. Notice that in the game against Texas, we didn't rely on the bounce pass, but instead passed overhead, with much better results.

Iowa State didn't use the bounce pass, and the lack of it in their game plan didn't harm their results.

With Iowa State going down the lackluster talent of the Big 12 this year is on full display. Many of us have been saying it all season, but this year was a very down year for Big 12 WBB (and overall WBB, if I'm being honest). Will be interesting to see how the remaining three fair.
