Maryland's Diamond Miller, who had a career night with 32 points and 10 rebounds against us, was held to 3 of 12 shooting, with 1-5 threes and 11 points in the loss to 2-2 DePaul.

We desperately need to get Blackwell and Edwards back to help compensate at least a little bit for our terrible lack of height overall. Otherwise we're going to continue to be abused by teams with better than average height interior players. Iowa State looks extremely tough now since they've gotten the 6' 6 Stephanie Soares in their lineup. She led the team in scoring in rebounds yesterday in their slaughter of Michigan state. And they were able to win convincingly even with Ashley Joens having possibly the worst game of her career. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Iowa State win the conference this year. They kept all their best pieces from last year and added this fantastic post player from the portal.

Even with the 6'7" Brazilian girl coming in next year we still need to get another good interior/post player with height to add depth and quality to our lineup - preferably via the portal...

This is no surprise. Doug Bruno is a good coach and has been with DePaul for nearly 3 decades.

I am somewhat shocked at the starts by highly ranked Texas and Tennessee.

What we have to remember is that we are down 2 athletic starters so, this early season is a growing period for the less experienced players. B12 conference play is where it all really starts.

I'm curious about non-usage of Kyla Alexander, who is 6'4". Has she been redshirted?

From what I understand Kyla needs some development. She is not yet at a stage to be successful playing a lot of minutes.

Kayla Abraham is very athletic and will benefit from a year of consistent coaching. Erika Porter has experience in B1 WBB and will also grow with experience in CNC's system. By next season I believe they will provide a formidable post presence which we will need especially early in the 23-24 season. We all expect Letycia Vasconcelos to be a force but don't sleep on Kayla A and the athleticism she brings to the court, in time she will be a rebounding, shot blocking machine. I think she and Letycia C will be a 1-2 punch like we haven't seen around here in some time.

For the few minutes I watched her play in person yesterday, she reminds me of a raw Queen Egbo except, stronger body/more solid and muscular at her age. She gets up and down floor well but will need work to develop (like Queen). If she puts in the hours and does develop, she will also become something special along with the other freshmen.

Kyla Abraham is not a redshirt, just needs development. She played (sparse minutes) yesterday,
