Wow turnovers did us in! How do we lose while shooting 50 percent

Do you guys think this will drop us from the top 25?

We put up a good fight tonight. Too much Michigan muscle at the end. 84-75. 22 for Jaden tonight

Its hard to beat good teams turning the ball over that much.

If we can get Edwards cleared this December, with the way Owens and the freshmen have stepped up. We will be in good shape.

Exactly! I'm annoyed that we keep turning the ball over!

I think there's a chance, but hopefully pollsters see injuries and saw how physical the game was.

If we do fall out, that would snap the second longest ranked streak in women's basketball, dating back to 2004

I gotta say, that was an amazing offensive performance. We shot over 60% for basically the entire game. Sorta disheartening to lose with those numbers.

We need Andrews to be MUCH better.

Turnovers and lack of rebounding is the reason for that loss we shot the ball very well!! Bickle being out hurt a lot at the end of that game. Jaden is finally blooming and it is great to see. We need Dre soon and it will help a lot. If there is any way we can get Blackwell this season that will help too. One positive regardless of the score os the freshman are getting to experience. Lyss didn't get this much PT until sophomore year, Queen Junior year. So they will be able to build off of this. They have played tight games been in top matchups and played against top players.

They have TN in it still despite having FOUR losses lol but everyone has over rated and overhyped them all of offseason.

I think we stay just inside the top 25, predicting 22-25 range. Villanova is a quality win so that will keep us afloat.

Yep second to only UConn! That shows how good we've been over the years!

Yeah she needs to be more consistent! I've been impressed with Bickle, Owens and the 2 freshmen

Even with great shooting, we can't turn the ball over 22 times and expect to beat a good team.

In an interview Coach Nicki said nothing upsets her more than turnovers so I am almost certain that this issue will be fixed.

We have to remember nobody on this team has had the experience of being relied on as a leader both from a production standpoint, having a leadership voice, and presence. Blackwell gave us that and we prepared for her to be option number, I think Sarah was expected to be option number 2 but it takes time for that kind of stuff to happen. Jaden has done it and you can see it in her production she has been the biggest surprise this season for me. She is making this train go and I think it is because opponents have not expected it to be her. People will start to step up and be forced to learn their roles and then we will get players back hopefully and we will thrive.

Okay. Tough loss. 20+ lead changes but too many turnovers and missed opportunities at the end. On the bright side - the shooting % show what's possible .

Jaden Owens - great night - but unfortunately she'll likely only remember the end. Which is what competitors do…

When it's all said and done, wish they'd won but as a fan I am optimistic about the future . Loving seeing what the freshman are capable of and as many of you noted, them getting this playing time is huge.

The future is bright for this team. However, we definitely need help in rebounding. If we can get Dree on the court she will provide help in that area. Will be even better if Aijah can also come back this season. I think we would have won this game and Maryland game if one of them had been on court.

Injury to Ajiah and problems with Dree's eligibility have been very unfortunate. I Just hope it works out to get at least one of them back before conference play.

If not im sure Baylor Nation will not be mad if they both decided to run it back next season!!

Michigan also shot 16 more free throws than we did. Did many of those come at the end? That's a big margin to go with the rebounds and turnovers.

CNC said she hoped to get Dre and Aijha back maybe by conference so that will definitely help with 2nd chance points and getting more FTs. CNC said she hoped to get Dre and Aijha back maybe by conference so that will definitely help with 2nd chance points and getting more FTs. I think our growing pains will help us down the stretch. Jaden and Caitlin and our frosh wouldn't have had nearly the same growth opportunities and crunch time learning in important games if Dre and Aijha had been playing all along. Caitlin was our only plus player for the game so losing her halfway through the 4th was a major blow to our chances to win. All streaks are made to be broken. I will be disappointed if we drop out of top 25 but expect we will be back in it at the end when it counts barring further injuries and getting the return of Aijha and Dre. We will also have much more quality and tested depth going into the tournament. I think our future is bright!

This is my take too. We have to be realistic in our evaluation of where this team is now, but also optimistic in what this team can be in the future. Not all blessings first appear as good fortune. Some spring from disappointment and adversity and are only recognized by looking back on them.

Some thoughts on the game

- This game turned in the 2nd quarter when we played a bench-heavy lineup. Many of the turnovers came in this period
- We're going to struggle to rebound with Asberry-Owens-Andrews lineups--not sure this is fixable
- Michigan played their starters more heavily. If Bickle was in the game to finish to 4th quarter we would have had a chance to capitalize on this.
- If Aijha or Dre return that should give a needed boost to the non-Bickle lineups
- Rim protection is a problem
- Really like the offense

If we get both Dre and Aijah back soon, the future for this team is extremely bright! I think we will definitely content for another Big 12 championship.

I say we bench asberry and give Bella Fontleroy the chance to start so we're bigger and she can hit the 3's and rebound!

With the flexibility in our position play, having Dre and/or Aijah back allows other (taller) players to spin down and the lineup to get taller. These will be younger players so they will need to mature with regards to game situations, so all the court time now is helpful.

Yes it was a quote from CNC near the end of the arricle on the official game writeup on baylorbears.com.

CNC looks at Ja'mee as her best defender v guards and likes her experience so as long as she keeps her shooting reasonable, I suspect she will get the majority of minutes. I wouldn't mind seeing situational substitutions with Bella later in games when trying to prevent second shots or use a 2guard lineup then and get more height with Caitlin and the frosh.

This is the quote: "Hoping we get Aijha (Blackwell) back and (Dre'Una Edwards), eventually. I think it will make us deeper and better as we had into Big 12 play in a month." (https://baylorbears.com/news/2022/11/27/womens-basketball-no-21-wbb-drops-tournament-final-to-no-22-michigan-84-75.aspx)

"Eventually" makes me think it may or may not be in time for Big 12 play for either of them. But at least it sounds like there is a chance of Blackwell returning this season, which I had mostly written off.
