Proud of our girls! Great job having them ready coach. I feel like we can build on this team if all of those eligible return, plus incoming freshman. I feel like NC will also pick up a couple of good transfers. New Arena. Strong group of players. Big on the way. And let it rain transfers our way. The future looks great. I watched Waltz and Vic tonight. We have a better coach than either of these teams. Take us forward NC!

It'll be nice to see edwards and Blackwell play! I see this game as a great building block for our team! I want it to be November already!

Aijha commented under Baylor last post and said "we'll be back" and then deleted it.

As far as I'm concerned this team played the best they could given the lack of bigs we had. Against UConn they were terrific for as long as they could be. Then UConn had that big 3rd quarter run and it just seemed to take every bit of energy out of the team. Very proud of our Lady Bears and also thnk next years team could be a whole lot better.

BUT, who s going to be our verbal leader next season with Bickle gone??

Tony's postgame interview without literally saying "Aijah will be back for next season" made it pretty clear that he expects Aijah to be back next season.

Sarah has been much more verbal in recent games, teaching and correcting and encouraging in a very positive way!

I can see Owens or edwards as the emotional vocal leaders

Dre Edwards will be as emotional and vocal as any leader Baylor has ever had !!!

The team used extreme energy, focus and effort the entire first half and into the second in order to overcome deficiencies in height, experience, proven talent and the home crowd in comparison to UConn. I think we have all experienced things like that in our lives. The heart is there but eventually the body just wears out. The job now is to upgrade the talent, depth, and experience so that all our energy doesn't have to be focused just on making up for those deficiencies mentioned above, and in doing so that energy will be there for the entire game.

A lot of the enjoyment I had the last 20 years in following the team was in the first 10 or so in enjoying the building process. Looking forward to that experience again.

Huskies, I thought, exposed the effect of not having those two players this year. With a healthy Edwards and Blackwell this year this game would have been really interesting. Geno had the personnel to take over this game, and they did when they had to. Great job by the Collen and her staff the last two games especially!

I don't know if Collen is a better coach than Jeff Walz and Vic Schaefer. What is obvious from watching how these coaches conduct themselves is that Collen is far more sympathetic and relatable as a human being than either of those two. And that will pay dividends in recruiting and player retention because athletes are people too and most want to be treated with decency.

Just compare Collen's post game presser with that of Schaefer. Night and day.

Truth here. I do suggest the job Collen did this year in maturing the team, especially the young player, was excellent, maybe outstanding. We'll likely see that maturity early in the season next year. The last two games of the season are prime evidence of her work with those athletes. That they recovered one game to get a solid win, and then to push a deeper, more talented and experienced UConn team for four quarters was impressive (to me at least).

Dre has matured and grown this year despite the disappointment of not being able to play - She has the respect of her teammates while she most likely won't be the "grandmother" like Caitlin was - her work ethic is a leadership example to the team. I wish I could point you exactly to videos where she exhibits her leadership traits so you would not have to spend a bunch of time hunting them down - but if you do hunt for the clips ...... it will be worth the time and effort.
Watch any game replay and watch the bench - she is the loudest and most animated player by far. Always encouraging her teammates as they come off the floor. Aijah is right there too.
Nicki has had her practicing at the PG, 2, 3 and 4 in practice on the scout team and I have it firsthand from 3 players that she is very capable of facilitating the offense as good as Caitlin did.
