Must not have watched the same game as I did … Nicki used an 8 person rotation substituting Bella, Felder and Bartley. The rotation was limited due to the match up issues with Oregon's size. Great ball movement most of the game .. failed to hit some open 3's. Great defense given Oregon's size advantage. We out rebounded them on both the offensive and defensive boards. This is a well coached team.

Guys, this is probably one of the posters that last year referred to our team as a Jr. High team with a coach who failed in their eyes in the WNBA, once again ignoring facts that affected her record in the league, wasn't committed because her family was hundreds of miles away, and wasn't a fit for the college environment. This while ignoring the depth factors and unbalanced roster, yet a team that reached the second round and giving UConn all they wanted. They wanted the AD to look bad with the hire regardless of who it was, how much they brought to the table, or what the team's record might be. They can no longer spout that kind of crap because of the talent on the team, its deep and experienced roster, and the apparently great chemistry associated with this team, so they have to divert to a different line of crap. If you want to crap on the AD, that's fine, but CNC had nothing to do with any of that.

I am not going back searching through posts from last year to bring up their user names, but you probably remember who they were. None looking at reality of when the coaching change occurred and the absolute disaster of a roster in depth and breadth that CNC inherited. Now they are making up new stuff to diss the coach, who has shown every indication of being exactly what we needed under the circumstances.

I haven't seen posts from those people lately. This one is probably one with a new user name. And as others have indicated, one of the most inane posts I have ever read on this message board.

Based on prior posts, my guess is the OP is mad that Denae did not play.

Sounds plausible - probably a relative or family member.

Nothing about our game was poorly coached. We had a bad shooting game but played hard and overcame.

Very well played and coached game. We beat a quality opponent today by double digits.

Unfortunately, TU beat UConn. WE will need our A+ game at the end of December.

Oh, and we are in the top ten tomorrow.

I love Coach Nicki and I love this year's team. Playing only 7 players any length of time today(Bartley only played 5 minutes), and 3 players 33 minutes today could have eventually be too much in my opinion, especially if we do this game after game. The players are in danger of wearing down by the end of the year if this happens every game. I do not know the right balance or number of course, but 7 players and lots of 33+ minutes games is not the best in my view. This has been a great start to this season for sure, no question about that.

Don't forget we have a week and a half break for Finals before we play another game. No reason to be concerned about wearing down anybody in this game.

I wasn't able to watch the game live (was at my daughter's soccer tournament in DFW). I'll watch the recording tonight but I'd guess that Nicki probably initially had a lineup designed to combat Oregon's size (they are a very big team - potentially the largest we will face this year save for one or two). Once that started working, she was likely reluctant to move away from it, especially since no one got in foul trouble.

Nice observation. I didn't realize that about the fouls. I'm guessing if we were in foul trouble we might have seen fritz or jana this game.

I would bet that Nicki expected us to get in a little more foul trouble given their size and had a plan for that contingency that was not needed.

Just guessing.

I was at the game today, and I have to say IT WAS AMAZING.

These ladies are really playing well. I am excited to see what happens the remainder of the year.

Is there a press conference from CN?

We won by 20 over a P5. I'm not going to complain about coaching at all with that.

When you watch the game I think you will find that while OR is much bigger than we are they don't have the speed or experience to keep up with our front line. Our bigs put on a rim running clinic, especially in the first half. Their size gave us problems but our speed more that offset their size. Texas, while not as big as OR is bigger than we are and more athletic than OR. I commented earlier today that TX may struggle if their defense isn't regularly creating opportunities for their offense.

From my Ferrell seat, CNC was managing her team to win the game. Remember, that's what she's paid well to do. NOT, satisfy some statistical guru counting PT minutes.

Great win today.

I was a little surprised Fritz didn't get minutes today, as she is usually next off bench, along with Jana, but in Jana's case, the height of OR, based on past performances, would have been been problematic, and in a post game convo, Coach mentioned her shortened bench and said the smaller rotation was based on defensive play. We know we played player to player defense for almost the entire game and that Fritz came from a program that played almost exclusively zone. She's still, I suspect, grasping the finer points of how Baylor plays man and working on getting instinctual about it. She is still learning and will have many more opportunities for those learning experiences, but this was not the game for that. She will get her opportunities…I think she has too much to add to not get some minutes, but she came to learn a different style of play, and she and her fans will need to have patience and let that happen.

As far as coaching job, it was a smart approach against a team taller at every position but not quite as speedy as us. Today required us to be more aggressive and tougher than the other team. I remember Coach saying last year how she had to coach the players to be aggressive and dive on the floor for loose balls, etc. Well, this team hustles after loose balls, balls heading out of bounds, rebounds ( against this team taller than we were), and gets steals by getting in the passing lanes or knocking balls out of the hands of the player intending to initiate play who is trying to let the offensive players get in position to run the offense. I think both AB and Dre got a layup off a steal at the top of the key.

Good win, nice break where the players can focus on being students and get those finals out of the way, and nice, fairly stress free game as tuneup for Miami, and Miami nice tuneup for Texas. This team is 7 and 0 and still has tons and tons of development ahead. Will be fun to be along for the ride and see how it plays out!!

I agree!! Just a bad judgement call on me..!!! My emotions get the best of me sometimes!! But I'm not for just Fritz as someone mentioned! Love all of these ladies!! They have a chance to go pretty deep, I believe!

Even though the rotation was tighter for most of the game, no one played over 33 minutes for Baylor.

On the other hand, Oregon had 3 players who played more than that -- Bell 40, Gray 37 and Van Slooten 34 (and she would had more minutes I suspect if she had not turned her ankle a couple of times)

If think the Oregon coach played Van Slooten too much and too long. Her ankle is obviously fragile.

I was surprised that Denae Fritz did not see action, and I hoped that Kyla Abraham would get more playing time than she did. Having said that, I cannot question those kinds of decisions on the part of this staff. They know their personnel and they game plan for specific opponents accordingly. With no game in the near future, they knew that the recovery time after this game would be more than sufficient and that everyone would be available for the next outing.

I suspect that they were also playing Texas as much as they were Oregon, so the substitution pattern was tight.
We will not see another team with as much height as Oregon put on the floor, but excepting Van Slooten, we will see more effective players in the deep paint, as we did with Utah. Our staff knows what awaits them in conference play and they are preparing for it in these preseason games when the quality of the opposition permits it.

Y'all are still upset over the billboard outside of Waco. We really need to move past it. Kim did not put up any of the billboards either in Waco or in Dallas for the final 4. She didn't know about the billboards until afterwards. It was the rich LSU alum that put them up. They always put up LSU billboards everywhere. They even put up a billboard in NYC this week to support their QB.

It is utterly amazing how some people waste their money on such things when that money could be donated to charity and help so many people that are truly in need. Spending it to gloat or to brag is truly a societal waste of resources.
