In his defense, he said he would ask, "Why Rori?" A little context here. Rori missed two years ago (another ACL, I think) and had worked extremely hard in off season to position herself to have a breakout year her senior season and heading to WNBA draft. She is an extremely likable person. Teams are like family. He was hurting for her. I don't think it was a "poor me" situation, but rather that "why do bad things happen to good people," question that most people of faith struggle with from time to time. (It was a little jarring and uncomfortable, though, when he related his angst with losing his father too young and his mom going through an awful experience for last months of her life. Lots of personal anguish for a post game presser…!)

Like most (very) highly paid college coaches, Vic believes his own hype and is full of himself. Team results, and his career, above all else is everything to him at this point in his life.
