I was there. Just a few observations of note:

  • We have 12 players on the roster. 11 were actively working out most of the time. Ines was suited up but just observing.
  • I thought Vonleh looked very good. Very strong inside and moved well on all the full court drills and action. I would expect her to handle the majority of the minutes at center.
  • Kyla generally looked good, but still seemed to struggle finishing in the paint.
  • Freshman Kayla Nelms generally looked fine, but I suspect she will not get much time against quality competition this year.
  • Buggs was hitting a lot of 3 point shots during some of the drills. Did not miss very often from 3 when I was watching her.
  • Nothing new but all good from the other returning players.
  • Can't tell much yet on Waiata. She moves well and has a nice shooting stroke, but not sure exactly how she will fit into the rotation. I just did not see enough of her to form much of an opinion.

Thanks for the update. I was hoping Buggs could get more consistent from midrange but if she develops a 3 pt shot she will be that much harder to guard! Glad to hear Kyla is looking better but I hope she can improve her shot.

Andrew's was on a stationary bike much of the time. At the end of the practice she was visibly limping and upset.
Anyone have any information on her condition ?

Thank you for sharing! The only other info I got from practice was that the freshman did not look wide-eyed as freshmen usually do. This person thought she could contribute this year, though they did not elaborate on why they thought this. And they agreed Vonleh looked good… moved well for her size.

She looked good, as did most of the returning players. Really no significant changes from last year for that group that I could see during the short 1 hour practice.

Poor Sarah has had a very difficult time staying healthy……. She is such a good player. I really feel bad for her……….
