Okay - so I don't live in Waco but sure wish I did because I would be at the games. I am sure I'll see "keep winning" as an answer to my question on what will it take BUT why aren't people there now? I mean the team is ranked, we closed out last season strong and so many players are back and these players are fun to watch. The bench is deep, the talent is diverse and it's clear the coaches and team enjoy each other. If any of you saw the postgame and when Aaronette Vonleh was asked about the Foster Pavilion she gave a classy answer about getting more people there. Can any of you who are there give insight on why people are not at the games?

The opponent likely had something to do with attendance figures. Week night game against a terrible opponent.
Has BU ever drawn good crowds in those situations?

The announced attendance was 3332, a Season Ticket Holder told me it was roughly 1500, the reported attendance is calculated by adding the total number of season tickets currently sold plus all the walk up sales.

I was planning on coming to Waco, but the weather was getting bad in north Texas yesterday afternoon.

I also heard from couple friends who attended the game who said it was less than 2K in attendance. Wished I could have gone to the game. Excited about this season.

Gonna be hard to reel in recruits with low attendance.

Except during the Brittney Griner years, I remember WBB always having low attendance until the start of conference in January. The other exceptions would be when powerhouses UCONN or TN (with Pat Summit) came to town. For me, I drive from Temple and don't miss a home game including the exhibition. I stay to the very end of each game and wave to the players as they make their final lap around the arena thanking people for coming. This team, this coach and staff deserve nothing less. Season ticket holder for 15+ years.

A rainy Thursday night vs Incarnate Word, first game of the season - fan support shouldn't be judged on this 1 game. Crowds will pick up like they always do after Christmas for conference games. Not worried because these Bears have great support.

But I also believe they definitely deserve more. can't tell me if the men were playing last night same weather conditions and a low level team more people would have came out.

I have seats in the 'club' which is really not a club for WBB. It blows my mind that they give out wrist bands and that they police the section since there is no benefit. Our security guard came and kicked people out of our section last night. We should be inviting people from above down to fill the space. It's what the team sees from their bench and we should be encouraging it to look fuller, especially in the exhibition games. When the season ticket folks start attending the conference games folks can move…..but until then get people to fill in and give those tickets away!

Way too early for this discussion. Still football season. Played a blowout opponent on a strange night, Thursday. When we play serious opponents, the attendance will lift proportionately. I wish we didn't even play these blowouts. I watch on espn and fell asleep. Nothing to watch there.

It was not raining Thursday night. I was in town over 6 hours. Two hours after midnight it did come a light sprinkle. Of course I realize your smart phone was predicting a 35% chance Perhaps some looked at that rather than looking out the window. And what was "strange" about Thursday night? Tuesday or Wednesday would have been better ?

The picture taken above was shot at exactly tip off time. BU was already set up and IW was just breaking the huddle. I could have posted a pic of the first EXHIBITION game in Baton Rouge. Would have been something you could have compared. But the last time I posted a pic of a game there it got removed. I guess it reminded too many of the "good ol days".

LSU's attendance at all sports is better than Baylor's. I have also been to early season games against poor competition when Kim was here and attendance at those types of games was not great,

Mulkey has sold out season tickets at LSU 4 straight years. Her 1st 2 games this week against inferior competition avg 10K each game. Comparing LSU and Baylor really isn't fair. Mulkey can convince their fans into anything, she is fundraising machine, and can sell sand to an Arab. She just secured #1 recruiting class for 2nd time in 3 years. If you win, recruits will come.

Very true. But, in most cases today, NIL $$$ seals the deal. Unfortunately, I don't see BU having a strong budget…..in WBB.

Good for Kim. I am focused on Baylor and not concerned about LSU.

It was in response to your and another post about Baylor's low attendance, and when Mulkey was at Baylor it was mentioned her early games were low attendance. That isn't true, our families were season ticket holders for many years and went to most of the early home games against inferior teams. There were usually a lot of fans at those games. You mentioned LSU, and I simply stated Mulkey was able to get fans at the early season games, weekdays and weekends, both at Baylor and LSU. Like I said above, Baylor has a championship proven record, when you win, recruits and fans will come.

Yes, that is true. But a lot of the folks going to the LSU games are also going to watch the circus. Not to mention, LSU football is not doing all that great so the fans are willing to spend their money on the winning sport of the moment.
I love what Kim did at Baylor, and appreciate her for it, but I am tired of the non-stop comparisons our fans have. Two different situations, two different types of institutions. Not to mention, the novelty will wear off eventually with how much the program is bleeding money from the LSU athletic budget even with all of their ticket sales and sold out crowds.

Support our team, support our coach, and let's build it great here again.

I like your take on this. The path to long term WBB success has changed. The path from good to great is paved with NIL $ more that great coaching and world-class facilities. We will continue to be very good and hopefully great in the long run.

I agree. We do need more NIL money but our program has a lot going for it. The team culture seems very good, we have great facilities, a great coach and very few of our players transfer, I think we are well positioned for a deep run this year and that will help.

Nicki has also done well with the portal. Vonleh was a great get. She can use it again if needed for next season.

Very true, CNC has done very well during her time her. I believe she has what it takes to continue to build a successful program without havint to buy her way into it. Those programs that have big NIL budgets will attract talent and do well and some programs will chart their way to success using a combination of great cultrue, great coaching, scouting, attracting and developing good talent/great talent.

We probably won't "fill" the stadium until late in conference, assuming we are doing well and contending for a conference title.

If we go into late January nearly undefeated (not a sure thing, but not out of the question,) and pull one out against UCLA, February should bring large crowds. Not sellouts, but large.

We don't need to talk about LSU to have examples of teams that get great crowds regardless of the opponent. Big 12 examples KSU in Manhattan KS, ISU in Des Moines (and I'm sure someone will start talking about there's nothing better to do in those cities - don't start that ) . I don't think it's too early to have this dialogue - it is about people (including students) getting excited about a great "product." I know the team "works it" with pizza and coffee carts on campus .

I liked the comments about letting people move down , it'll get folks excited if they could sit in good seats, perhaps create interest that way. I live in KC and always drive to Lawrence and their crowds are growing . They also don't care who sits where.

So I know I'm musing, I was curious what folks would say. And also agree recruits notice.
