..the Big 12 tournament is March 5-9...

Unless BYU makes the final and it's March 5-10.

They really take that Sunday thing seriously

I think the odds of winning the power ball are almost as good as BYU in the championship

That's an agreement in all sports with the NCAA. if they ever make the tournament their side of the bracket does t play on Sundays.

I admire them for it. Baptist caved on the issue long ago. He arose that Day and it is to be unlike any other day.

Yep..I know..

There were 2 cases in the last 15 years where the committee forgot and placed the Men in a bracket where they'd play the Sweet 16 on a Sunday but they didn't get that far.

And why should they not?

The odds are tiny if it ever happened, but it would be interesting to see the situation if they ever made the NCAA championship game. It is on a Sunday. Here are your choices:
  • The game is moved to another day at the relatively last minute which would conflict with the men's game on Monday or resulting in a two day delay combined with making the pre event advertising to go in the trash heap.
  • BYU forfeits the championship game which is another PR and financial disaster for the NCAA.
  • BYU caves and plays

I don't see the last option occurring. So, the NCAA is left with a mess.

Now, the odds of BYU getting there in any year is remotely remote, but I suspect people could have said that about the Baylor men a decade ago. I hate conspiracy theories, but can you imagine the perceived pressure referees might feel to make sure BYU women never make a FF? But of course, if that was to be found out, that would be an even bigger disaster for the NCAA.

This certainly would make national news for one reason or another.

Why aren't concessions being made for the Sabbath keepers. Perhaps a coach or some players don't believe in playing on Saturday. And why can't the Cleveland Indians still be called the Indians? Geezus it sounds like I'm trying to start an argument here. NEVERMIND

I think because the majority don't treat it that way. Heck, even church going people contribute to it. We go out to eat after church requiring others to be there to work. When I was a kid we used to go church on Sunday night. Hard to find churches open on Sunday night now. We did not plan or reschedule church-related activities to not conflict with NFL football games, especially the Super Bowl. We do a lot of things that may allow us to honor the Sabbath, but don't think twice about someone else not being able to do that because they have to accommodate us.

Concerning the mascot situation, there may be instances where supporters of the team act in such ways that mock native Americans and that is terrible. But do people really think a school, university or even professional team want to have a certain mascot because they want to make fun of the people that mascot represents? That is a ludicrous position to take.

My high school has always been "Indians". Some people floated the idea several years ago to get rid of it, but that got shot down real quick. "Indians" populated our area long before we got here. It is a reason for the city's name. The mascot was picked to honor that heritage, certainly not to degrade people. But some people don't want to see it that way and that in itself reflects badly on them, IMO. I would never want a mascot that I choose in order to make fun of it. That is just inane to think that way.

No I don't have time to crunch the numbers and see what the odds really are. But if any one wants to I'd be willing to put up a thousand that the BYU WBB team will not be playing for the championship in KC this year. Any takers.

I don't need them crunched. (No one has time for that). I was just wanting 6 + the Powerball.
