If Bball teaches us anything, it teaches us the limits of the body. A player can have a season ending injury with Zero contact (Jana) or an, at least, game ending injury with collision. And look at our poor decimated men's team. This sport is incredibly injurious, and the victory goes to the team with enough bench to keep playing. Proud of our bench! Need our injured to heal fast and join them.

PS. This gives strong argument for rotating starters to save their bodies and develop depth on bench. Sooner than later you need them ready!

I agree. This is also a good justification for scheduling cupcakes during nonconference, to allow you to get the bench experience.

In the end, though, I believe Bella's injury was a result of her intense play. It's what makes her such an incredible player, but also what elevates her risk. In a lot of ways she's the closest thing we've had to a Melissa Jones since we had Melissa Jones. Remember her eye injury?

I remember well. And she played from muscle memory with sunglasses after the injury.

Was glad Bella got to meet MJ and talk with her while in Boulder a couple of games back.

Yes, great addition to the list. I think Kristy probably had more raw talent than Bella or MJ, so her fearlessness wasn't as "on display" as theirs. But they definitely all inhabit the same category of warrior-like players.

Not doing this likely caused us to miss out on a Final Four just a few years ago. We could have had players ready. There were plenty of opportunities to have done so. But we didn't and it bit us in the butt.

Speaking of Kristy...just saw that she has elected to sit out this season from the Indiana Fever. Her contract will be suspended for the season, and Fever retains her rights.

Old man me remembers when it took 32 games to get to a National Championship. The women have already played 30.

As many times as Bella has "taken one for the team" and hit the floor, she was just going for the ball and got blindsided by K-kitty. Unbelievable that she was called for the foul. Hope she's comfortable and not in pain.

Her stepmother recently passed away, so she may be returning to Australia to be with her dad and siblings.
