I think she is going to the perfect team for her talents and level of defense.
If I was a coach at a top program, parental involvement that interfered with the team would be a hard no for me.Chibears2 said:
Sometimes, being the biggest fish in a smaller pond gives you an inflated opinion of yourself. She's about to start a new level with already established athletes who know the routines, workouts, each other, coach's expectations, etc. If she comes in too big for her britches, she won't get help from her teammates and might find herself struggling in the day to day. That could be really humbling, really quickly. And college coaches don't have the same constraints that high school coaches do, so parents may not have the same influence.
I think it will be interesting to watch, but I won't be surprised if she doesn't figure out her attitude will need to change. Has the potential to be really successful and time will tell.
True. I coached a bit and ultimately had to get out due to a parent's displeasure with me, (and who BTW, never, ever came and spoke to me personally). But youth leagues and public schools are not collegiate level where the athletes are getting paid and there are no guarantees. Just saying, time will tell. Is it wrong of me to say, if you are right, and she is a perpetual pain in the backside of OU's program, I won't be sad?… <evil grin>blackie said:If I was a coach at a top program, parental involvement that interfered with the team would be a hard no for me.Chibears2 said:

I used to coach competitive softball. There was a guy who coached a good team who made the comment at a tournament one time a long time ago......."I am going to go get a bus, take it over to Buckner's Childrens Home and get me a team. That way I don't have to deal with the d**n parents". Lot of truth in that statement.
