Six days from now the question will likely be answered.
Playing a Top 5 team that features a Top 5 PG should leave little doubt about the question.

If I am wrong I will happily admit it.
If I am right will the 254, wee, etc. types have the fortitude to admit their error and withdraw the attacks?

Judge each of us by how we handle the result.

Nah, because rather we win and JVG looks amazing or we lose, you will still be an insufferable "fan" who has negative sports knowledge and is wrong on nearly every topic you think you're an expert on. Plus, a one game sample size does not tell the full story and it is unfair to weirdly obsess over one player like you seem to do.

Reminds me of the time even owners of this great site were dunking on you and you scurried away to the free boards. You probably should just stay on this side of things (sorry, free board friends....)

Typical from you. Lies. Misinformation. Trying to backtrack without it admitting your retreat. You are really laughable.

No real person runs from objective measurement. But keyboard flamers like you aren't really as tough as they project.

Suggest some Objective standard and watch you slither.

I literally have no idea what you are talking about at this point, buddy. The posters like you give me so many laughs. So serious yet..... It just isn't that deep.

One game will not give us an answer one way or the other is all I said before you went full geriatric on us. Again, weird to oddly obsess over one player but alas.

Exactly IowaBear, who the **** cares what Mulkey and LSU does with their schedule? We need to worry about our own team, our own schedule, and win as many games as possible. Has anyone looked at our own schedule? It's not anything to brag about. Sorry, but we are not top 15 team. Big12 is a weak conference compared to SEC and Big 10. Have you looked at LSU schedule? They play Texas twice, SC, OK, Tenn, KY, Vandy, OM, FL. Their conference is brutal when they start playing each other every week with no letup until the big Tournament. Reality, if Baylor was in the SEC conference, we wouldn't be able to keep up with those powerhouse teams. All of the SEC teams are battle tested by the end of conference play. They are loaded with 5-star, McD AA players.

No disagreement from me. But I do think if we were in the SEC we would have a better chance on getting some of these HS recruits we are getting close to but not getting. Our conference affiliation hurts us and of course the NIL those large schools can provide hurt as well. And at this point, you almost have to say the money hurts the most. Even if a recruit is not getting the top dollar they know they are going to a team that has players that do and therefore should certainly find a way to playing deep in the NCAA tournament.

You don't see the biggest HS recruits flocking to the Big XII unless some personal tie. That is the reason that most all of our conference teams have and will have to rely on the portal to pick up those that initially go to B1G or SEC that don't get the playing time they want because those teams are so loaded or for some personal reason things just don't work out as they thought. Another reason to why international might be promising as, at least my understanding, they can't get NIL.

There is a pretty good gap overall between the Big XII and the SEC and B1G. I don't know about the ACC. I don't follow them, although TCU beat NCST and we beat Duke. And like I said earlier, I think there is a pretty good gap between the top 6 or 7 teams in the country and everybody else.

If Baylor had the NIL that the SEC schools have we could get some of the top 20 players and compete. It is a fact that Baylor and the Big 12 can't compete with SEC and Big 10 in NIL money; thus we will not get top players. Nicki Collen had a top
9 recruiting class her first year at Baylor (before NIL). She has not come close to that since NIL started. She continues to get top players to campus but in the end they don't sign because they get more money from SEC and BIG 10 teams.

Under current NIL rules, Baylor will not have the teams equal to top teams in Sec/Big 10. Thankfully, Nicki has been successful in portal since players take the money and situations don't turn out as they hoped. NIL has completely ruined college sports. It is total money game now….. Really sad…..

Sorry, that is a copout, that is victim mentality. We can get NILs just like any other school. There are a lot of schools who didn't have strong NILs in the past but recently started to receive some big donations for NILs. Baylor is a great school and can do this too. Maybe we're not top 10 NILs, but we can be competitive. Maybe with our new AD and his corporate/marketing background, he can turn things around for Baylor NILs. He can aggressively fundraise companies and their multi-millionaires and billionaires. I fundraised one time, was given an amount as a goal, no one thought my team and I could do it. We exceeded our goal by 2X. Baylor need ls an aggressive NIL team.

Call it a cop out, but Baylor and smaller schools CANNOT compete with larger schools where athletics is king for NIL. We don't have alumni base or supporters who are willing to give millions to buy a championship. And it takes millions. A couple of Tech donors spent over 20 Million to buy a football championship. How much money do schools like South Carolina, LSU , UCLA provide in NIL for women's basketball ?

Hopefully new AD can generate more money for NIL, but I just don't see us getting enough to compete with big schools in SEC and Big 10 in Wbb

Right now, the NIL push at Baylor by the new AD is going in one direction >>>>>>>>> FOOTBALL. As much as I like WBB, football has got to be the priority right now. It is what it is

I have no way to know the situation as to if there are BMD's that will pay for WBB instead of football. I suspect those that were, were probably more Mulkey fans versus Baylor WBB fans.....and yes, there is a difference. The new AD may eventually have a wonderful relationship built with those people, but his sole focus right now is going to and has to be toward football.

There is a reason we come up short on signing day when we are the finalists with schools like LSU, Tenn, UCLA, ND, etc when it had gotten down to just us and one or two of those. We simply cannot match what they have. If it is not money then it is conference. If the recruits didn't have high regard for our program and our coaches, we wouldn't have been in their final few. Once UT and OU left, the national perspective of the Big XII, which was already disrespected when we were going gang busters, any semblance of that just went with them.

We are not playing on a level field. To believe otherwise is naive.

You really do embody nonsense.

meaningless stats from a Buy Game might mean something to you, not to those folks with any knowledge.
beating the East Dakota School for Hairdressers or the West Mississippi College of Embalming might invigorate you, folks know that those wins and the stats therein are meaningless.

Buy games give teams a chance to keep starters in rhythm, get minutes for backups, and work on trouble areas…..but they tell the coach and fans nothing about the upside of the team. Lose and they do tell about the downside.

You probably think a home run in the Cactus League against a career minor leaguer is a sign of a great hitter.

Keep on with the attacks, they are laughable. Much like your opinions.

WBB teams play about 8-10 games per year which are "team and player gauges".
Baylor's next one is Sunday.
Everyone can see for themselves how Baylor stacks up and how the player stacks up.
No need for hyperbole, objective reality on a neutral court.

In this case it will also be a gauge on the opinions in this thread.

The thought that revenue share would equal the playing field has not come close to working out. Instead, schools can now pay $20.5mm out to athletes and the larger or more aggressive schools have found ways to move from NIL collectives to NIL funds through other sources. See the football coaching contracts now talking about salary and NIL commitment above revenue share - BYU, Penn St, LSU - these schools have aggressively moved on from the revenue share only model. Baylor has been slower to get to this approach - we have had a lot of distractions internally - football, AD, waiting to see how revenue share/NIL clearinghouse actually work. Doug will now need to come in and try to "catch up" to where this is and where it is going. Nicki does get a lot of top recruits to visit. From what I am hearing, UT has 4x-5x more $$ to spend for WBB because of the UT approach to aggressively pursue / promise outside NIL. I do not think we need to match the UT's of the world dollar for dollar, but most kids(if not all) are not going to be paid 4x less for the opportunity to play for BU. Given a near equal offer, I think Nicki can recruit toe to toe but we are not in that league right now. There are other schools in the Big 12 that have moved earlier than we have in this model - TT, BYU, TCU & others. Hopefully we get in the middle of the game soon.

Well I doubt there's a soul in America that would predict BU over UT this Sunday. They've already taken care of North & South Carolina & UCLA. So I would think if BU loses by 10 or less that they will do even better in the Big 12 than I've been anticipating. As of now I feel like TCU & ISU have a slight edge in the conference race. And I seriously doubt that JVG or any other player will have the game against them that they had today. IMO JVG is a very decent point guard but it's very doubtful she could start for any other team in the top 20. When I said that her game today would give AP nightmares I said it for one reason and one reason only. Just to trigger AP and see how many rants & raves he would respond with. And it worked. LOL I love it. I can't help it.

His vitriol for JVG has been over the top. Certainly she is a bit slower since the injury but she is working hard and has improved in shooting and other areas. Sure she makes bad passes and decisions sometimes. What are our other options with our injuries? No one is expecting a good game (for anyone) vs Texas.

Y'all make me laugh.

if female athletes want to be treated like male athletes, that means a WBB starter gets the same treatment after a bad start that a CFB QB gets after throwing four interceptions. You don't only get the fun side of the coin. Want to sit at the adult table? Be ready for adult analysis.

and the "vitriol" you describe is primarily directed at a staff who failed to recruit a starting quality PG (even though in WBB it is one of the two easiest positions to recruit). Look at player rankings from past five years and see the success rate of the #30-#50 ranked PG recruits.

the team lacks a generational talent (not surprising, 99.9999% of teams do). The team has one player that can be honestly labeled as great at their position. Six of the other seven rotation players fit in the good or very good levels. Think Top 50 at their position (starting 3/4/5, bench guard/wing/post).

And then there is one player not in the top 100 at her position……and it is very obvious. Not her fault. She simply is not talented enough to be a starter. Most players aren't. At best she should get 10-12 minutes against backups. That level is her talent equivalent.

To be a second weekend team in March, the team simply must have ZERO players below that Top 50 at Position threshold. Accepting reality is a key to success in any industry.

The staff failed miserably in recruiting and in talent evaluation. No matter the NIL situation, Baylor can afford a Top 50 Starting PG.

Jana is ass. There i said it.

Never was a fan of the signing, even before the injuries.

She cannot play amongst the Top teams in the league and today was a clear view of it.

Im still puzzled by the one person that said this team can compete with any team in the country and only ONE of our transfers gets PT.

Hell, Id rather roll out Deng over Jana.

Another year, another off season of misses by NC.
