Did I hear that right?

CNC didn't even realize that Scott was headed to the scorer's table to check herself in.

Seriously?

Like, do we not have control over our own program, and just let players check themselves into the game when they feel like it?

Even if Scott was dying to go in the game - As the head coach, you should be the ONLY one to green light that move.

She hasn't had control of the program the entire time she's been here. Today there was no emotion and very little coaching. She is relying too much on Scott to win games. Not sure she's properly developed a player since she got here. This has the potential to be a very, very long season if Scott isn't back in the next couple of weeks. The tourmanet is not a guarantee. The team on the court today was, plain and simple, not good.

CNC said that in pregame they had discussed using Scott the last 2-3 min of the game. She saw her at the scorers table and was surprised saying "no one asked me". She didn't seem to worried about it saying it work cuz they were +3 with Scott in. Not sure how much should really be made of it.
I did like hearing her at the end calling out players running plays the wrong direction, not setting screens correctly…etc. Which is exactly how disjointed our play looked.

Her breakdown during her postgame interview is not a good look. Maybe someone should remind her that she is in charge and can make changes and improvements like not having the players in incorrect positions and floor placement on the final play of the game.

I guess there are a bunch of teams that are "not good" as Tech will likely be ranked this week as they have just been a couple slots out.

The team is not great, but to say it is "not good" is a stretch. Of course, it is a lot better with a healthy Scott...that is why we wanted her.

Did we rely on Griner too much too? Kim's usual words when things were not going well were "get the ball to Griner". When we didn't or couldn't, we got beat in the tournament because we had little to no consistent outside game. I don't think it is poor strategy to utilize your most productive player on offense whenever you can. Had we had a fully healthy Scott yesterday, it was unlikely we would lose the game as it was played.

Almost every time the TV panned to NC, she was either animated toward an official or a player. The offensive plays drawn up were good, especially the last one. Deng just missed the shot.

I don't know how you judge whether a player has been "developed". Buggs has become a force on the boards and Fontleroy an outstanding defender. Kyla is much better than when we first saw her, although at times disappointing on her shooting. Every year past the first one the teams have gotten better as the season wore on. The first one just got tired by the end of the season because we had no bench.

The higher hopes for this season were I think, always centered around Scott and to some extent Deng because it finally gave us legitimate and consistent 3-point threats that we have not had for a long time going back into Kim's tenure. So, if you lose that, why wouldn't the season end up being disappointing.

The tournament is never a guarantee. There are 4 to 6 teams in the country that are clearly and substantially superior to everyone else. Because of parity created over the last 5 or so years, most everyone else in say, the next 40 or so finds themselves in situations where increased competition in-conference and key injuries can derail their season. We used to be in the top 4 to 6, but KM decided she would rather go home and let LSU throw whatever amount of money and athletic department benefits at her to get her to walk. We are now in that up and down period trying to find our way back to try to rebuild what we had as best we can, just like every other team that lost their HOF coach. It took UT over 10 years to find their way back after Jody retired, and they have been way more successful at getting back than those that are still trying

I don't think unless things change outside the control of the coaching staff, Baylor will ever be back to where we were and I think it is futile for fans to believe so. If someone wants me to explain why I think so, I'll be happy to discuss that (without personal insults) in another post or thread because it involves how the landscape has changed affecting our ability to overcome the HOF coach exit, why and how we got to that past success and why reaching that again and sustain it now is probably not a realistic expectation. And I think having that expectation can rob fans of supporting and enjoying watching the team and can result in actual detriment to the program rebuild because of constant comparisons to and expectations built based on the past. But that would be a very long post, much more so than this one.

I'm the furthest thing from a CNC fan but, if what coach said in the postgame regarding this having already been discussed, I've no issue with it.

It's a pain issue and not a risk of worsening the injury. Coach and played had already discussed. Where is the issue? It sounds like the player knew when she was needed.

The issue is turnovers and focus.

Turnovers and focus…exactly.
…and yes. The scenario was discussed pre game, including with Scott.
