WACO, Texas – No. 12 Baylor women’s basketball (21-4, 10-2) prepares for a pivotal showdown against its rival, the No. 17 TCU Horned Frogs (21-4, 9-3). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the Foster Pavilion. The game will be televised on ESPN.

While the in-state opponents, separated by I-35, have held hate for one another for years, the rivalry lacked much interest in the women’s basketball department until last year. TCU had failed to down the Bears from 1990 to 2024, before investing resources into its program and defeating Baylor three times this past season.

TCU enters Waco as the highest-rated team in the Big 12 per Barttorvik, both in conference play and throughout the entire season, fueled by its elite defense. The Horned Frogs lead the country in shot defense, surrendering just 0.748 points per field goal attempt. Led by its shot defense, TCU ranks 11th nationally in adjusted defense and has the best 2-point defense in the country. For comparison, Baylor ranks 10th in adjusted defense and has the best 3-point defense in the country. The Horned Frogs are also elite at preventing second-chance points, as their height has led to a top-25 defensive rebounding unit. The height has also led to a top-20 block percentage, checking in at 19th nationally.

On the offensive end, TCU boasts the sixth-best shot offense in the country. The Horned Frogs shoot 57.3% from inside the arc and 35.9% from 3-point range, good for 3rd and 24th in the nation. Baylor must limit the TCU offense, which ranks 23rd in the nation, to give the Bears' offense a chance to knock off their in-state rival on Thursday.

  • Baylor Barttorvik Rank: 29

Taliah just needs to attack they are gonna foul her, they are gaurding her hard. I dont know why they are making these passes to the bigs they appear to not be ready for it.

Tech and Colorado beat TCU by getting 2-3 Toad players fouled out. So far tonight, despite Suarez's shoving and foot shuffling, TCU has been called for …. Zero fouls in 11 minutes of action.

36-32 tcu at the half.

Our struggles on the inbounds play continues.

We had some momentum at the end

I do like the collapsing double team on swarez

She is killing us

I thought we had some lazy passers but Miles is one of the worst I had seen.

Taliyah needs to stop going under the screen

She's not guarding her at all

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Nobody is guarding her at all. We keep ducking under screens and giving her space.

Make her drive

Why do they even have taliah on her they know she is a liability defensively, also her getting hit by all those screens is going to tire her out, really dont understand it

Can we not let Miles shoot open shots. Do we not know we need to guard her.?

If we dont get back into it, we literally can say we let two players beat us, i just cant believe it. We knew that these to players were themost important to scout and i dont see a single good game plan yet

How long do you want to ignore this user?
There are 2 people we need to guard on tcu. Let's guard them

This is on the coach. Most of her shots are uncontested.

I liked the press there but then we settled with our shortest player on their hot 3 point shooter. At least JVG tried

Guard Miles. This is unbelievable.

I'd be surprised if our offense is good enough to come back from the deficit in the 4th.
