I only wish she could have gotten the help she needed.

She struggled post Baylor and the transition from being an highly revered athlete to a regular person. I'm not sure her injury played a part. I know she had a hard time holding down a job. There was a time i ran in the same circles as her. Very sad for the Jones family. My prayers for her brothers who she was close to along with her Mom.

This speaks to something I often wonder about, which is the post-college fate of highly beloved and decorated college athletes who don't end up making a living as professionals. I know many of them end up having normal, productive lives. But I suspect more than we are aware of end up really struggling without the support system they had during college. I hope this is something programs are thinking about and working toward finding helpful solutions.

I suspect that happens to lots of guys who make the pros, also. Eg, average shelf life of an NFL player is about 3 years, I think. All of a sudden, everything you've been working for your whole life just ends.

So sad to hear. She was a boy to watch and everything I have heard over the years was she was a good person.

Hopefully BU can find a way to honor her. Even if it is something like a scholarship, retired jersey, or some other tribute.

Yes this is something that is often overlooked in college sports and pro sports.

Guys and girls that spent their high school and college years as a stud, famous face on campus, all star, etc. and seemed to just coast by all of a sudden find themselves just a regular person. The spotlight has gone away, Often rather abruptly and they suddenly aren't as famous anymore.

This causes massive depression and then with football players you throw in the CTE and it causes massive issues.

Her jersey is already retired, but hopefully the team will do something to honor her next year. I remember the players having a patch on their uniform for Chameka a few years ago.

I just read that Steve McMichael's brain was studied after he died from ALS and they confirmed he had CTE. I suspect Brett Favre does too.

I was horrified to read this on my news feed this morning. Prayers for peace and comfort for her family.
