I just watched The Legacy of Bella & Buggs on Baylor Plus, and it brought back so many wonderful memories of the joy these two young women brought me during their four years at Baylor. Through their play and the example they set as faithful student-athletes and true sportswomen, they added so much to my life. I want to thank them both for all they contributed to Baylor, and I am proud to call them fellow Baylor alums.
I remember feeling concerned when Coach Nikki came to Waco. Although I was impressed by her knowledge of the game and her warm personality, I knew how difficult it can be to follow a legendary coach. I also wondered how challenging recruiting might become after some commits chose to leave Baylor. When Bella & Buggs signed, I felt encouraged and hopeful that Baylor women's basketball could avoid the struggles some programs face after a successful coach moves on. While I would have loved to see more banners hanging from the ceiling, I am proud that Baylor has remained competitive, and my hope for the future remains strong. Sic 'em!
