Nice to see Decosta on list.

Yes and I like the fact that the other four of our Fierce Five are equally as talented and motivated to become Lady Bears, too.

In fact, I venture to say they will likely become members of the 2018-19 national champion Baylor Lady Bears as freshmen.

And do not count us out for this 2018 season to win it all, either.

I like the way you think. Next year's Final Four is in Tampa, my favorite of all the past WFF sites (outside of Indianapolis and Denver, where we won our championships!) and I would really like the Lady Bears to join me there for the games!!

Here are the comments on DeCosta:
No matter that we've seen Baylor signee Aquira DeCosta dozens of times since she started eighth grade. We're still wowed every time. No prospect on this list rebounds the ball like DeCosta. A pogo stick in a 6-2 frame, the senior at St. Mary's (Stockton, California) attacks the rim like she's on a mission to succeed. No prospect on this list is as athletic as DeCosta, either. An explosive athlete who plays near the rim, you can bet that DeCosta will continue her double-double show in the Big 12. The question is how well DeCosta can shoot the ball outside the key. Will she follow in the footsteps of Nina Davis, who at 5-10 went to Baylor and dominated in the lane, amassing more than 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and earning national acclaim? What's certain is that DeCosta is a superb athlete and a rebounding machine.

I have posted this elsewhere on a discussion of recruiting, but Baylor has offered Haley Jones, a junior this year at Archbishop Mitty in San Jose. I have no idea whether or not she is seriously considering Baylor, but she and Decosta played on a summer AAU team and became good friends, and they probably are the two top players in the state in their respective classes. If Baylor could get a visit from Haley, it might go a long way to move up her list of preferences.

I would think that another big post player, somewhere in the 6'4" to 6'6" range, would be high on the short list of "takes" in 2019-2020. The departure of Kalani the year after this means that a replacement would be highly desirable. Queen Egbo is athletic and certainly a fine prospect, but at 6'3" she is not the ideal size for the position in today's game, as Baylor demonstrates every time they face interior players no taller than that. I know that Mulkey prefers smaller post players who are athletic and can get up and down the court to tall girls who can't move very well, but the trend toward taller and more athletic interior players is not likely to be reversed, as tall high school girls who once concentrated on volleyball are seeing great benefits from playing basketball, now.
This is more important at the defensive end of the floor than the offensive end, as we can see these days.

Does anyone have recent info on our 2019 recruiting? It will obviously be a small class after the 5 we bring in this year. We've already got one committed. A while back there was a rumor that we might flip Nyah Green from Louisville. I assume we plan to take a post player in that class too. This may be worthy of its own thread but I was curious if anyone had inside information.
